Like the previous release "Requiem" , this record also has no relation to Black or Viking Metal but undoubtedly belongs to Extreme Metal universe. It's hard to estimate this record as a whole by one mark. Musically it's based on thrash times with hammering aggressive drums and screaming guitars, but conceptually "Octagon" is the best record about our present-day world.
No one record before, in my opinion, can touch the sheer power of the totally emotional Quorton's aching for the surrounding reality. Rat race and symbols. Crucifix and flesh. Politics and fashion. Religion and death. The next trinity:"Psychopath", "Sociopath" & "Grey" are about condemning to hell all of us by surrounding social climate. you'll fade in Grey. the next two tracks are involved in figuring of fucking war supply: Just one delicate press on the trigger and it's all gone. Ask yourself if your one life is worth spending this way. Tell me where's all glory you seek among countless young men slain. Indoctrinated as you are by church, school, government and your command you'll think more of how your death will contribute and benefit your land. "Schizianity"- Does man think that he has an eternal life? A dangerous deluding himself. (musically the weakest composition) And finally "Judgement Of Posterity"- is the toxic waste as our Judgement for posterity. So as to say Living in a deadly damp "enjoy" kiss's "Deuce". The mankind is having fun on the edge of grave. Remember it. Review by Vetrarnott |
