1996 "Aurora Borealis" 1996

"Oh, save me! Oh, guide me!
And bid the dip hide me,
For grasp he me now by the hear!"

'Shelley'
This is Einherjer's debut record, with a great cover containing a canvas made in very elevated style.CD contains 4 tracks where the last is an enigmatic one of the same name Einherjer respectively. Other songs are of a bit original style, sort of Black/Doomish with slow well played songs and great vocals. The band forgoes the simplistic blastbeats and shrieking typical of the early black metal bands, instead of opting for a more majestic epic metal sound . Despite the short playing time (about 20 min.) this is one of the best of the epic music in existence.
One may say after listening: Aurora Borealis, the North Enchantress, don't be blown away...
"She had a look in her eye that could make you melt,
Made me feel better than I ever felt.
But bless her heart, she couldn't stay,
I begged her not to go away."

1996 "Dragons of The North" 1996

A dangerous mist has been slipping down from the dark mountain ridge. Through long waves of dawn one can hear like clink of swords is rising. Enherjer is coming...
...As blood for wolves for riches and lust
Onward with hammers to chest
Villages burn, burn citys to dust
And for fun they torture the rest...
A frightening intro, then becomes more majestic, dangerous. Both the first song and the title track are great stuff, in fact it's the best the berserks from Norway have ever done. It's accompanied by plenty of male choirs in nice Viking epic affairs. A plenty using of classical harpsichord provides a mysterious touch inside a brutal atmosphere, that fills the album. This succeeds its romanticism of baroque music but inside a savage North. A great North, which can accept its cold, its starvation, its weather, all of those whitening old bones with wind and snow...
...Come my winds - My Dreamstorm
Soon shall I forever sleep
Pale have I become
Who shall for my fading weep
For faded I have done...

1997 "Far Far North" 1997

1998 "Odin Owns Ye All" 1998

...I sing to them songs I wish their best on their way
I'm sure a Valkyrie found them in the battle that day
I drink to my kinsmen who fought bravely at sea
I drink to my kin who'll be missed not just by me
Odin owns ye all...

This is an awesome record filled with intense lyrics , many various attributes of songwriting and great feeling of Ancient North . Everything layered with good taste and professionalism except music base(!). One can feel it sounds a bit ripped and not so fresh as it could have. The material is a bit uneven with a few boring songs and some of good ones ("Remember Tokk" and "The New Earth" are absolutely masterpiece). The sound comes like waves: identical with that same equal harmonies, that reminds a bit Einherjer's old sound, but this repetition is rather boring. While perhaps this slight music negligence doesn't interfere to consider "Odin Owns Ye All" as a worthy record for those who prefer the epic side of Viking Metal.
...Enough of tears, enough of wail!
Not to lament in was Valhalla made
The wind as fresh as the air is clear
The greatest of men are here
All einherjer in Odin's court
Fare to fight each day
Select the slain, then leave the battle
Sit after at peace in the hall...

2000 "Norwegian Native Art" 2000

The riffs are more thrashy, the keyboards are omnipresent, but less in the foreground, which makes that they should sound a little better but more simply than before. It's for the most part goofy album for Einherjer since the first one. A silly cover art humiliates a Viking Aeon and abases the creative work of Einherjer, a great Norwegian band. It isn't "NATIVE ART", it's a one step to back not to explore a new territories. What the stupid mugs covered with blood? They haven't signed the new deal with stupidity yet, but one may think it will happen soon. It's NOT Norwegian, NOT Viking's, NOT Northern... Only that and simplified lyrics decrease overall rating to the four.
This Sucks...
