In order to have a sensation of this very worthy work by Austrian Summoning consider the following analogy. The deep snowiest winter is outside. You are seating in a smooth armchair near fireplace and listening like a beautiful music is sounding around you. A well programmed drummachine and f/x parts here intertwining with cycled guitar riffs make an indescribable Tolkien's inspired atmosphere. The album is very long (appr. 68 min.) so you get much music for your meditation. Not only does "Dol Guldur" act as a relaxing album but it also acts as a reminiscent that the winter is a good season... February, 2001Review by Vetrarnott
It's always very hard to describe such great music like Summoning's creative work... But this MCD is something more then only four tracks simply having ideas remained after work on "Dol Guldur". Indescribable ambient music atmosphere allows me to be impressed that its dark melancholy is more close to "winter time" in our life. In that time the surrounding Summoning's music sounds like a balm with thorns for our Northern hearts... Suffering from pain we are finally falling unconsciousness....
