1992 "Beyond Sanctorum" 1992

This is brutal raw Death Metal damn good composed with a clear complex sound. "Beyond Sanctorum" is the best of Death Metal releases that I always keep in mind. Christofer Johnsson always had a great sense of arrangement and all of his compositions have beautiful union with different nonstandard elements added to his music. During this record he begun to experiment with more keyboards as well as some clean male and some female singing here.
At first if you just looked at the cover of this album you would be fascinated by the clash of the light and the dark around frosted mountain peak as well as the common design of CD-box & CD. As music is concerned all tracks are made in that same manner: This is a compound of pure Death Metal style and some elements which make sound more noble. The absolute brilliant tracks here are "Symphony of the Dead", "Beyond Sanctorum", "The way", especially ones of them with female singing. When I listened it first time I'd thought that is keyboard sound. But this is pure voice sounding like musical instrument.
If you'll find this CD issued as the Active Records's edition, buy it without any doubt, because latter Nuclear Blast's reedition isn't as good as the original.
