A Day In The Life Of A Freshman
By: Lauren Maslowski and Keally Gillespie

The bell rings, which hall am I in? Where's my locker? What's my combo? What class am I in? How do I get there? These are the questions a specific rank of highschoolers ask themselves everyday; they are the freshman. Being the lowest levels of students isn't easy. Don't you remember when you heard about Freshman Beat Down Day? These are the rumors freshman are told by upperclassmen all the time. Sure, orientation seemed easy, but once the first day of school rolled around, it wasn't easy anymore. How come? Well, first of all, this place is huge, the halls are packed, there are lots of new faces, and we're not even going to mention the loads of homework! And the positive side of being a freshman, well, there is none. You are the first to be called on, no matter how far you sink down in your seat. Your locker seems to get stuck at the worst time possible, right when you have 30 seconds to get to a class on the first floor. Lunch lines are huge, and as soon as you get to the front of the fryline, those words echo in your head "Sorry, sold out." I guess you're going to the vending machines for a well balanced meal of Snapple and Snickers, if the machine even takes your money. How about getting lost? A hall, B hall, C hall, and D hall are hard enough, but E hall seems like they just threw it in to confuse us. Another confusing thing are the buses. Actually finding your bus on the first day of school was an accomplishment. How about putting the bus numbers in order? But maybe being a freshman isn't so bad. Who knows, maybe we'll actually make it through ninth grade?
