Pop Princesses: They’re Not That Innocent By: Krysti Hunter, Kelly Kinder and Ryann Mackin In the world of a teenager the real competition is Britney vs. Christina: Who has a better voice or who sings the better songs? But what are people really looking at? Where is the real competition? These barbie girls aren’t for real--literally. They grew up acting together on the Mickey Mouse club, but now they are competing to see who can wear the least amount of clothes. “Britney is a bigger sl**, I mean did you see what she was wearing at the Video Music Awards and what she wears in all her videos? But I also don’t think it’s right for them to act the way they do, but that is what people want, so their giving people what they want,” said John Martin, a freshman at SBHS. So why do they act and dress the way they do? Because they get attention and it appeals to the people. Therefore, they need to appeal to people to get their music sold, hence the reason why they dress the way they do. According to online polls, chat rooms, and postings, most teenagers favor Christina over than Britney. Teens today say that although both act like prostitutes, Christina is not nearly as bad as Britney and she has a better voice and sings better music. But again, what is the truth behind their success? How can we separate rumors and lies from what really is going on? There have been many rumors about both Britney and Christina such as them getting implants, about Britney having a fake accent and many rumors about the relationship between Justin Timberlake, and Britney. When put on the spot about these rumors, Britney denies it all. She said that none of the rumors are true and that none of it ever happened. But then, when Christina was questioned about all the rumors spread about her, she admitted to the truth. “At least Christina Aguilera admits to getting implants. I think that makes her a better person for admitting what she did and not denying it. She’s not afraid of what people think of her and she’s not afraid of the truth,” says Tiff Bullock. So, what is the status between Britney and christina? Are they Divas in the making or are they little girls acting older then they really are? Oops...they did it again--these genies in a bottle are driving us craaaaaazy.
