School is Back - Deal with it By: Mohammad Umar Farooq The curse of Senioritis By Jamal Adams "Senioritis" is a term often used to describe a 12th grader who finds the need to become excessively lazy and defiant. That in and of itself is a lie, because "senioritis" is much more than that. The reason I won't do any work and constantly defy authority is due to the fact that since birth I have been doomed to be afflicted by "senioritis". Now I'm not claiming that it was genetically predetermined that I would be stricken by this god awful diseaseā€|no wait a minute I am saying that. It's not my fault I don't do any work, or respect your power as a teacher. Blame my parents, blame God if you must, but shame on you if you blame me the innocent victim in all of this. This is my open plea to teachers who have the privelgae of teaching seniors, please show leniency on us because it is simply not our fault that "senioritis" has descended upon us like the black plague it's genetics and the fact that Im better than everyone else because Im a senior.
