World Peace
By: Allyson Silver

World peace. Maybe today, maybe tomorrow, maybe never World peace is not a subject that is discussed very often with many people. However, it is still a concern for some. You may not think of it as a big deal, but it is. People all over the worl are fighting for their rights, food- even a place to live. There is so much descrimination and prejudice in this world that we don't pay attention the people who need help. On October 9, 2000, there was a rampage in the Middle East. Two jews were killed due to this incident. We have all heard about the shooting at Columbine High School. It sent a shock throughout the country. There have been saftey laws made to make sure that everyone is safe. Now we have police at schools standing in the halls and making sure nothing happens. It works up untill threats are made. Bomb threats have been made a couple of times even in our highschool. Last year in our highschool there was a threat that there was a gun in the school. Mr. Kietrys came over the loud speaker and told the teachers to close the class room doors and lock them. In situations like that we have to think fast. Do you want violence to run your life? Do you want to have to make fast descisions? Take a stand and help others. Should guns be illegal to people twenty-two and under since many people, encluding kids, have been shot? Should pocket knives be banned from schools or other public places because they may lead to a stabbing of a young child? Stand up for what you believe and try to move your way up to world peace.
