Five AndhraPradesh ministers were waiting in anticipation of their evening feast. The reason was that they expected to have a good time to celebrate 3 years in office.
And what a good time it was.The feast would have put Obelix and the entire Gaulish village to shame. The cook told a local daily that 15 non-vegetarian dishes were served that day.A waiter revealed the menu that included delicacies ranging from peacock to spotted deer to wild boar!A band of tribals had hunted for two days in the jungles to bring home the venison. And 100 animals were slaughtered for the evenung bash.Ironically,it was the evening of 13 October-the day Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was arrested for killing a blackbuck.
On 5 November, one of the ministers sought to shift the blame and said that though the party was held in his honour,he had no idea what was being served.
But nobody was prepared to buy either this story or the minister's son's feeble excuse that they were only served dal and pickle.
Though a formal state enquiry was ordered into the matter,it has already been accused of being rigged. Some crucial evidence may have been lost already. The remains of the slaughter and the feast have been cleared without a trace left of the event and local invitees have been told to take a holiday somewhere for a while.
Though the event has been extensively photographed, the assistant to the photographer has alleged that some thugs came to the studio and threatened to burn it down if he said anything.A local reporter for an Urdu newspaper has also reported that he was beaten up for reporting the incident.
But most importantly, the extensive video coverage-then taken to preserve the event for posterity-has vanished.
