Conceptually, Viktor Chapovalovs' latest series of works, “Metamorphoses”, is
based on a reconstruction of the organic form.Chapovalovs' metamorphoses are made as successively enhanced sketches that after many reworkings get their final form as oil paintings on canvas. Independent of the artists´ choice of medium, however, these strong images penetrate the observer in their naked obviousness. The transformed images crave our attention because they tell us something about what it is like to be human in our science-oriented contemporary society. Infinitely beautiful, but at the same time cold and sterile. Organic, but nevertheless not human. The human soul created from biological parameters. To cite Viktor Chapovalov: “My works of art depict the processes of life as changes of the living matter, made possible through our awareness of time.” The artist consciously avoids mathematical and structural calculations that reflect a simplified and adjusted model of our world. Instead, Viktor Chapovalov captures the magic in the metamorphoses of life. His works are created from shapes and lines in melodic collaboration. These works possess a soul of their own. Viktor Chapovalov has studied at the College of Art and Design in St. Petersburg and is s a permanent resident of Sweden since 15 years.
