Here are some very useful utilities that I use. All software is for
Windows or DOS. Freeware are marked and do not require registration.
All others are shareware.

Vic-20 Slots
I learned programming on the Commodore Vic-20 which I got 2nd hand in 1990 (I think) and made this slot machine game around 1992. The zip file contains a snapshot and tape image for the Vic-20 emulator, VICE
Rocket Calculator
This small Windows program will estimate flight details of a model rocket.

Pkzip 2.04g
The old DOS command line zip/unzip utility. Unfortunately this is in a zip format because geocities doesn't allow .exe files so it is up to you to unzip it with something else! Includes compress.bat (author unknown) that easily compresses a folder and saves it across multiple floppies.
MikTeX
TeX for Windows. Convert your TeX or LaTeX code to .dvi or .ps
Ghostscript/GSview
For viewing and printing postscript files
Gnuplot
For plotting functions and data
Qbasic
Microsoft's free Basic interpreter for DOS. Great for learning programming! The syntax is the same as the modern Visual Basic for Windows.
(Clicking on this file will create a lot of files, most of which are unrelated to qbasic. You can delete them all except qbasic.exe and qbasic.hlp.)
Cygwin
A Linux-like environment for windows. Includes ports of popular unix apps and compilers (gcc,g77,g++,perl...)
