The Sun
For Solar viewing, I use my 6" Dob and a full-aperture home-made Baader
solar filter. For imaging, I use my Olympus C-5000 digital camera
and just shoot through the eyepiece.
The picture shows Milly, Terry, and Eric from the astronomy club set up for solar viewing at Roosevelt National Park in 2004. My Dob is on the right.

Imaged some large sunspot clusters during the astronomy club's annual
visit to Theodore Roosevelt National Park. I grabbed whole Sun
views with my C-5000 Olympus digital camera and my 6" Dob Friday.
The next day, I used my Toucam with Terry Kuntz' Meade ETX to get a
more detailed view. Thanks Terry for your help!

A sunspot this big had to be imaged! With the winter Sun so low,
I imaged through my 2nd floor window. I still had some tree
branches in my way, as can be seen in the picture. The big one is
sunpot 720 and is about the size of Jupiter.

Another naked eye sunspot. This time, I used the optical zoom of
the camera to get a closer view through my Dob.

I aquired a used 60mm ETX and couldn't figure out what to use if for so
I made a Baader filter for it. After waiting a couple weeks for some
spots,I snapped this picture of the Sun.
I used the optical zoom of the camera to get a closer view.

A rare treat! Chris Milford and I borrowed the Physics H-alpha
telescope to show kids the Sun at Super Science Saturday, sponsored by
the Dakota Science Center. We were rewarded by numerous large
prominences. Afterwards we couldn't resist imaging with my Toucam.
