FMV of Ryube burning, inspersed with shots of the Highland flag and Highland soldiers. Villagers run and are chased by soldiers wielding swords. Focus on the arm of one man, raising his sword high above his head.
Fade to Ryube burning away and crawling with Highland soldiers.
Villager (running towards the gate with a soldier chasing him):
"Aaaaaargghh"
Random soldier:
"He went that way! Your orders are to allow nobody to leave the village!"
Villager (off-screen):
"St...stop."
Soldier (off-screen):
"You can't escape, fool!"
Screen scrolls to the center of town. Lots of dead villagers litter the ground. Two villagers are being held by soldiers. The soldiers take them to Luca who stands laughing with his sword drawn.
Luca:
"Ha ha ha ha ha! Kill!! Burn!!!! Die you spineless worms!!!!!"
(He rather reminds me of surlykitty.)
Luca approaches a villager.
Blonde villager:
"Please...please... spare...my...life..."
Luca:
"Don't make me laugh! Your pitiful life isn't worth saving!!!"
Blonde villager:
"So...cruel."
Luca kills him. A soldier pushes a woman towards Luca. She falls to her knees.
Woman:
"P...please...stop..."
Luca:
"All you worms can do is plead! You really want to live so badly?"
Woman:
"Y...yes.... I...I'll do anything... just..don't kill......"
Luca:
"Is that right...... In that case, act like a pig."
Woman:
"Huh?......"
Luca:
"I said act like a pig!!!!!"
Woman:
"Yes! Yes!!!"
She crawls about on hands and knees.
Woman:
"Oink...oink...oink"
Luca:
"Hoo hoo. Ha ha ha ha ha! He he he ha ha ha!!!! Very good!!"
(Yeah, Luca has the Evil RPG Lord Laugh™ down pat.)
Woman:
"So that means....?"
Luca:
"Die pig!!!!"
Luca kills her.
Kiba (and his shiny bald head) enter the scene.
Kiba:
"Are we finished yet Lord Luca? We've done enough, haven't we?"
Luca strikes a pose.
Luca:
"Finished? My sword still thirsts for blood!! You! Burn this place! Burn this whole place to the ground!!!"
More flames burst forth.
Fade to Tsai and the group at the edge of the village.
Tsai:
"So that's Luca Blight..... He's not human...."
Jowy:
"I...I won't forget this!"
(Jowy whips out his PDA and jots down a memo...)
Tsai:
"Wait a minute. Luca Blight possesses strength that is not of this world. You and I would not have a chance of standing against him in combat. But there will be another time."
Riou:
[x] "We can't just sit here and watch."
[ ] "....We've got no choice."
Jowy:
"Let's go, Riou! I won't let him make more victims like Pilika!!"
Tsai:
"That's not going to happen."
Jowy:
"This isn't the time for such talk."
Jowy and Riou turn to rush into town.
Tsai:
"I guess we've got no choice."
Tsai clobbers Jowy and Riou from behind with his spear.
(That was Tsai's one moment of coolness.)
Tsai:
"I'm sorry. But I can't let you two die here. The Highland Army has already gone."
Fade to center of town. The group stands looking at a burnt tree stump.
Jowy:
"................"
Tsai:
"Let's hurry. Next they'll go after Viktor's fort. If it falls, this whole area will become Highland territory."
Jowy:
"Let's go..... We've got to.... fight..."
They leave.
Back at the fort:
Pilika meets them as they enter the compound.
Pilika:
"Oh you came back! Yeah! Uncle Jowy, Uncle Riou!"
Jowy:
"Pilika..."
Pilika:
"A man who looks like a bear was worried about you. But Pilika knew you would come back. Hurry, let's go..., okay."
(There's a strange bit here. You can go to Flik's room before going to the meeting room--it's the room just left of the meeting room. Flik will be standing there. He'll say one of his lines from earlier when you were wandering about the fort. Then go directly to the meeting room, and Flik will be there already. Does he have teleport abilities? There's no door directly from his room to the meeting room...)
Enter the meeting room. Flik, Viktor, and Apple are there.
Viktor:
"So you made it back okay Riou, Jowy."
Flik:
"I heard that Ryube Village was attacked and I was worried."
Viktor:
"So is that the man called Tsai?"
Tsai:
"I am Tsai. Good to meet you. There is very little time. I will begin working on the 'Fire Spears'."
He starts out the door.
Viktor:
"Thank you. Let's hope it works. Riou, Jowy, good work. You two have done enough... Get ready to escape to Muse City. This battle has nothing to do with you. Thanks again for getting Tsai."
Riou:
[ ] "I understand."
[x] "I want to fight by your side."
Viktor:
"You're what? I appreciate the thought, but..."
Flik:
"I don't want anyone slowing us down, so I'll give you a test. Riou, if you can even just wound me, I'll count you as a warrior. Okay?"
Riou:
[x] "It's a deal."
[ ] "Forget about it."
Flik:
"Okay. Have at you."
They duel.
Flik:

Flik steams and gets up in Viktor's face.

Free to walk about.
Viktor:
"Flik, you held back didn't you? Oh well, a promise is a promise. Good luck."
Flik:
"Stay near me when the fighting starts. The enemy isn't going to hold back like I did."
