The next morning, outside the dorm rooms:

Nanami:
"Morning, Riou. So today we say good-bye to this school... It was fun... kind of. And the food was delicious..."

Luc:
"Oh well..."

Pilika:
". . . . ."

[They leave and meet Flik in front of the Academy.]

Flik:
"Are you sure you didn't forget anything? We won't be back here anytime soon, you know."

Riou:
[ ] "I'm ready."
[x] "Wait a minute..."

Flik:
"Well, hurry up with whatever it is you have to do."

[Speak to Flik again.]

Flik:
"Did you have to go buy a souvenir or something? Okay, let's go then."

Riou:
[x] "Okay."
[ ] "Wait just a little longer..."

Luc:
"That girl... You're going to leave without saying anything to her?"

Flik:
"Don't be ridiculous. ...Now that you mention it, I haven't seen her since this morning. Well, it has nothing to do with me. Come on, let's go."

[They head towards the gate. As they get to the main square, they see a large crowd of people.]

Nanami:
"What? What???"

Flik:
"What's..."

[Screen scrolls to reveal that the crowd is being addressed by Captain Rowd. Eight Highland soldiers are with Rowd.]

Rowd:
"All right, listen up!! This is an announcement from the Prince of Highland, Luca Blight!! 20,000 Potch and the right of Highland citizenship will be awarded to whomever captures Teresa, former acting mayor!!"

Random crowd guy:
"Liar!!"

Random crowd chick:
"That's right!! How can we trust a nation that's already broken their promises!?"

Random crowd noise:
"Yeah!! Yeah!!"

Flik:
"A cash reward and immunity... It's only a matter of time before someone comes forward..."

[An exclamation point appears over Pilika's head and she jumps up and down.]

Nanami:
"What is it, Pilika...

[Nanami jumps with an exclamation point over her head.]

Nanami:
... N... No! That's a lie...!"

Rowd:
"How dare you! If you won't trust us, then..."

[Jowy enters the scene, stands in front of Rowd, and addresses the crowd.]

Jowy:
"Citizens of Greenhill, please listen to what I have to say. The parties responsible for yesterday's unlawful investigation are already being punished."

Rowd:
". . . . ."

Jowy:
"This is a formal offer from Prince Luca Blight of Highland. I swear on my own life that our promises will be kept."

Random guy:
"...Is it really...??"

Jowy:
"There is, however, one condition. Teresa must be delivered alive... No reward will be given for a corpse."

Muse soldier in the crowd:
"2... 20,000 Potch..."

Nanami:
"Wh, why? Why?? What is Jowy doing here??"

[Pilika runs toward Jowy.]

Nanami:
"Ah! Pilika!!"

[Nanami runs after her.]

Flik:
"Hey! Wait!!! Damn it, you brat!!"

Wonder which one is the brat...

Riou:
[ ] "We have to follow her!"
[ ] "We can't be found out!"

"We have to follow her!"	"We can't be found out!"
Flik: "Okay, let's go!!"	Flik: "But...!!"
Rowd: "What...? Who's this little girl?" [The crowd parts as Riou and company come running through.] Rowd: "Huh?? You're...!!"
Rowd: "Y, you..." Riou: [x] "Jowy... Why are you..." [x] ". . . . ." Both choices get the same response. [Jowy turns away.] Jowy: ". . . . . . . . . ."	Rowd: "Ah! Ah! Ah!!!" Nanami: "Wh... why??? Why... are you..." Jowy: ". . . . ."

Rowd:
"H, hey! Get them! They're..."

Fitcher (off-screen):
"Hey, you people!! Capture them!! Spies!! They're spies!! There will be rewards!!"

[In the confusion, Riou grabs Pilika and the group escapes.]

Rowd:
"D, damn!! Quickly, get them!! Out of the way, damn you!!"

[Rowd and the soldiers run off.]

Jowy:
"Riou..."

[Culgan and Seed approach Jowy.]

Culgan:
"That's the leader of the Orange Army, isn't it... The one that defeated Kiba at Two River."

Seed:
"You're sure we shouldn't follow, commander?"

Jowy:
"Rowd will take care of it. We'll leave it to him."

Seed:
"Naturally..."

Culgan:
"Teresa... No matter what you say, we won't give her up."

That seems like a non sequitur. I wonder if Culgan was supposed to say "No matter what you say, they won't give her up."

Jowy:
"...I suppose so..."

[Scene fades to another part of Greenhill as the group runs away.]

Soldiers (off-screen):
"Over there!!"

[Three soldiers run up to them.]

Flik:
"Tsk!!"

[They fight.]

Flik:
"This is bad. There's bound to be tons of Highland soldiers at the gate."

Luc:
"We should escape through the woods by Teresa's shack."

Flik:
"Good thinking. We've got to get Teresa out of here, even if we have to use force. As if their promises can be believed!!"

[They run, stopped by four unavoidable battles with Highland soldiers along the way. They pause in a clearing.]

Shiro:
"Waoooooooh!"

Luc:
"What?"

Hmm, so Luc does not speak the secret language of dogs...

If Luc and Shiro are in different spots for this:

Luc:
"Looks like we lost them."

Shiro:
"Waoooh?"

Nanami:
"Wh... Why... Why would... Jowy..."

Flik:
"The commander that 'knew what time it is' Fitcher was talking about... it must have been Jowy. But... It's hard to believe... A commander in the Highland Army..."

Pilika:
". . . . ."

[They resume running.]

In Teresa's shack:

[When they get to Teresa's shack, Teresa, Shin, and Nina are there.]

Nina:
"...So, come on, we've got to run...!"

[Nina reacts to Flik's presence.]

Nina:
"Oh my!! Sir Flik, whatever are you doing here? Goodness... Have you been following me...?"

Dream on, Nina.

Flik:
"What... How do you know this place!?"

Shin:
"Nina has been helping me. Whenever I needed supplies, she would buy them... I fear I would have stood out too much."

Well, buddy, maybe you wouldn't have had that problem if you'd considered changing out of your bright orange clothes and... Oh, I don't know... maybe ditching the bright yellow turban?

Nina:
"Flik, what are you doing here?"

Flik:
"We've come to get you, Lady Teresa, and escape. The situation has changed. This time, if we must, we will use force..."

Teresa:
"Nina has already informed me of what is happening."

Nanami:
"Then, then, then, let's get out of here. If we stay here we'll be found in no time..."

Teresa:
"No... I will not run. I will be the cause of no more suffering for my people. Once they have captured me, Highland's oppression of Greenhill will end... I have no other options."

Nina:
"B... But... Wait a minute..."

Teresa:
"Lord Riou, excuse me. I am... sorry that I could not be of any help to you."

[Teresa begins to walk out, but Flik blocks her way.]

Flik:
"Wait!! Do you really think I can let you do that?? I'm sorry, but..."

Teresa:
"If you interfere, I will take my own life."

Flik:
"Damn..."

[Flik backs away from her.]

Shin:
"My lady, I will accompany you."

Teresa:
"Then... Please bear witness to the end of my life."

Shin:
". . . . ."

[Shin and Teresa leave. Flik looks away.]

Flik:
"Why do you hurry into death?! Surely living is better!!"

[Nina jumps up and down.]

Nina:
"No... I can't let you die!! Lady Teresa, you... After you fought so hard for us... We knew the food supplies were low!! And yet, even after that... You didn't wish ill on the soldiers from Muse!! I can't stand by and watch someone with such a kind heart die!!"

[Nina runs out.]

Flik:
"Hey!!"

Nanami:
"We... We're not out of the game yet. Let's go, Riou!!"

[They run back to Greenhill.]

Back in Greenhill:

[In front of the Academy, they see Shin and Teresa facing Rowd and six Highland soldiers.]

Rowd:
"So you've already given up, eh? It was good of you to make up your own mind about it. And so polite too. Ha ha ha ha!"

Teresa:
". . . . ."

Rowd:
"All right, get them!!"

[Shin steps between Teresa and the soldiers.]

Rowd:
"What? Are you resisting?"

Shin:
"I'll never let you lay your filthy hands on Lady Teresa."

Teresa:
"Shin, what do you think you're doing? Please, stop. And... The House of Wisemail is no more, so I am no longer acting mayor. You have no reason to be doing this."

Shin:
". . . . ."

[Rowd jumps up and down.]

Rowd:
"I don't know what's going on, and I don't care if they resist... Take them by force!!"

Nanami:
"Let's go, Riou!"

Riou:
[ ] "We have to save her!"
[ ] "But..."

"We have to save her!"	"But..."
	Tuta: "Riou!! It's too late for that talk!" Nanami: "Let's go, Riou!" Riou: [ ] "We have to save her!" [x] "But..." Luc: "Hmph, coward." Nanami: "Let's go, Riou!" Riou: [ ] "We have to save her!" [x] "But..." Shiro: "Grrrr..." Nanami: "Let's go, Riou!" Riou: [x] "We have to save her!" [ ] "But..."

Flik:
"All right!!"

[They rush towards Teresa and the soldiers.]

Rowd:
"Hah!! So you fools have come back?! Perfect... Take them!!"

[They fight.]

Teresa:
"Stop... Please, stop fighting."

Flik:
"Don't be ridiculous!!"

[Another fight.]

Teresa:
"I beg you... I... I don't want to be responsible for any more trouble."

[Nina runs up from behind Rowd.]

Nina:
"Trouble...? Trouble?! Trouble to who!?"

[A group of townspeople and Muse soldiers join Nina.]

Rowd:
"Wh... What... you..."

[Nina jumps up and down.]

Nina:
"Will you get out of my way?"

Highland soldier:
"Eh...?"

[Rowd and the soldier sweattle and hurriedly back out of Nina's way. Oh, yes, big scary Highland soldiers... afraid of a sixteen-years-old girl... Nina walks up to Teresa.]

Teresa:
"Nina..."

Nina:
"No!! You can't be captured!!"

Teresa:
"But... If I am taken, everyone will..."

Nina:
"You think everyone will be happy!? Lady Teresa, at least believe in us the same way we believed in you, fought for you... Everyone, everyone... When we lost... When we led Greenhill to defeat with our own hands... that battle wounded us inside!! Knowing that, will you still hand yourself over to the Highland Army? Will you really cause the citizens of Greenhill more pain?! You may lose battles... You may even lose your town... But there is something more important than that that you CANNOT lose!! Please... Do not lose that... Lady Teresa..."

And if Rowd had been smart, he would have killed them all while they were standing around listening to this speech.

Random town guy:
"Everyone, protect Lady Teresa!!"

Random woman:
"Protect our mayor!!"

Teresa:
"Everybody..."

Muse soldier:
"Yeah... The people of Greenhill took us in... let's return the favor!! Let us not pollute the name of Muse any further!"

Rowd:
"D... Damn you..."

[Rowd and his soldiers run out through the crowd.]

Random crowd noise:
"Lady Teresa, you are the one and only mayor of Greenhill. Please, get yourself to safety!!"

More random crowd noise:
"Yes... And someday, please, come back to re-take your city!!"

Teresa:
". . . . . Thank you... I... I'm not worthy..."

Crowd:
"What are you talking about? You know we believe in you... Never forget that!"

Teresa:
"I understand... And I promise... I will return to Greenhill... I will once again walk these streets... I will once again breathe this air... And my lips will once again call this town's name! Wait for me... I will return!"

Good Lord, Teresa. The sooner you leave already, the sooner you can return. Why not give the Highland Army more time to come after you?

Crowd:
"Of course!!"

Crowd:
"Yeah!! Come back and chase the Highland Army out!!"

Flik:
"It looks like the main force is coming!! Run!!"

Crowd:
"Okay, everyone, create a diversion...!"

Teresa:
"Citizens... I promise... I promise... I will return!!"

Will the woman never leave?

[The group runs off with Shin and Teresa. Nina stays behind. Fade to a clearing in the woods.]

Flik:
"They're probably creating some sort of diversion, but it won't last long... Hurry, Riou!!"

Teresa:
"Excuse me..."

Shin:
"I'll go ahead and clear the way."

[Shin leaves. Teresa joins Riou's convoy. They run. They have two unavoidable fights with Highland soldiers before reaching where Shin is standing, in front of the cabin.]

Teresa:
"Shin!!"

Shin:
"Godspeed, my lady."

Rowd (off-screen):
"Are you in that much of a hurry?"

That's about what I was thinking there, Rowd ol' buddy.

[Rowd and six soldiers enter the clearing.]

Rowd:
"Hmph! They were able to slow us down without even any weapons... I'm surprised. Anyway, this is as far as you go. You can't escape."

[Nanami jumps up and down.]

Nanami:
"You're awful! Awful! Awful!!"

Aww, Nanami, now you've hurt the poor little soldiers' feelings. I guess they won't want to fight you now, because they're all too busy weeping into their shirtsleeves.

Rowd:
"Awful? Who are you kidding? Do you know how much trouble you've caused me? This time I'm sending you to the execution grounds."

[Shin moves to stand in front of the group.]

Teresa:
"Shin!!!"

Shin:
"Don't worry, I won't let them pass, my lady."

Teresa:
"I will not allow this!! If you die..."

Shin:
"My loyalty lies not with the office of mayor, not with the House of Wisemail... ...but with you, Lady Teresa."

Teresa:
"What are you saying...!?"

[Flik punches her to knock her out and catches her over his arm.]

After all that running back and forth through the woods that she made them do, I bet it felt really good to punch her.

Flik:
"Leave this to me. By the name of my blade, I will protect Lady Teresa!!"

Shin:
"Thank you..."

Flik:
"Let's go, Riou!!"

[They leave.]

Rowd:
"H, hey!! They're getting away!! Quick, follow them!!"

Shin:
"I can't let you do that. With my blade, Tarantula, and the skills engraved upon my soul... I will defeat you!!"

On the far side of the cabin:

[The group runs through the woods for a good distance. Eventually they pause in a clearing.]

Nanami:
"Hah... Hah... Looks like we made it..."

[Flik looks around.]

Flik:
"For now... But we can't let our guard down until we get to Genkaku Castle. These lands are still controlled by Highland."

[Pilika jumps and heads toward the next part of the clearing.]

Nanami:
"Pilika!!"

[Jowy enters the clearing where Pilika is. Pilika hops a bit in front of him.]

Nanami:
"Jowy..."

[Jowy and Pilika approach the group.]

Jowy:
"Riou... Nanami..."

Riou:
[x] "Jowy, why are you..."
[x] ". . . . ."

Both choices get the same response.

Jowy:
"Riou... I give you this advice as a friend. Relinquish leadership of the Orange Army, and run away."

Shiro:
"Grrrrr..."

If Luc is in Shiro's spot for this:

Luc:
"What do you mean..."

[Jowy turns away.]

Jowy:
"The victor in this war is already decided. Anything you do now is in vain... you will only be prolonging the suffering."

Luc:
"You mean to say... You're doing Luca's bidding?"

[Jowy turns back to them.]

Jowy:
"I will not allow Luca to have his way with Highland and the City-State..."

Nanami:
"Th, then..."

Jowy:
"You have no reason to fight... Riou..."

Riou:
[x] "I can't just run away."
[x] ". . . . ."

Both choices get the same response.

Jowy:
". . . . ."

[Pilika hops up and down behind Jowy. Everyone turns to look at her.]

Pilika:
"Ooh... Wah, ooh... Jo..."

Jowy:
". . . . ."

Pilika:
"Ooh.... Uwaaaaaaaah!!!"

Jowy:
". . . . . Riou, you should start running."

[Flik turns.]

Flik:
"Pursuers... Riou, run!!"

Nanami:
"Jowy... What is this, this has to be a lie!! I don't believe it!! Jowy, my Jowy, our Jowy... He'd never follow orders from Luca Blight!! It's a lie!!"

Riou:
[ ] "Let's go, Nanami."
[ ] ". . . . ."

"Let's go, Nanami."

". . . . ."

[The rest of the group--even Pilika--begins to run away. Riou drags Nanami away.]

Nanami:
"No, no, no, NO!! I HATE this!!!! We're finally here with Jowy...!"

And I am convinced that Nanami has secretly had a crush on Jowy for years.

[They leave Jowy alone in the clearing.]

Flik:
"Come ON, Nanami!!"

Nanami:
"No, no, no, NO!! I WON'T!!!! We're finally here with Jowy...!"

Riou:
[ ] "Let's go, Nanami."
[x] ". . . . ."

[Nanami jumps up and down.]

Nanami:
"Come on, come with us, Jowy!! Okay? Okay? Okay?? Come on, say something, Riou!!!"

Riou:
[ ] "Let's go, Nanami."
[x] ". . . . ."

[Nanami approaches Jowy.]

Nanami:
"You're coming with us one way or another, Nanami..."

I sure hope she meant to say "Jowy".

Soldier (off-screen):
"Captain Rowd!! I found them!! This way!!"

Flik:
"Damn it!! Come on, Nanami!! NOW!!"

[The rest of the group--except for Riou and Nanami--begins to run away. Flik drags Nanami away. Riou and Jowy are left behind, looking at each other.]

Jowy:
"Go on, Riou."

[Riou leaves.]

Jowy:
"Farewell... Riou..."

[Scene fades to the group running. They pause in yet another clearing.]

Flik:
"It looks like we made it, but we can't rest easy yet. Let's hurry to Genkaku Castle, Riou."

Teresa:
"Someday... ...Someday..."

Back with Jowy in the clearing:

[Rowd and five soldiers approach Jowy.]

Rowd:
"Well well, if it isn't the commander. By the way, a few rats must have come running this way... Did you see them, by any chance?"

Jowy:
"I haven't seen anything."

Rowd:
"Ohhhh, I see. Hmm, even after one of my men swore he saw them come this way! You may be a commander, but you're still a newcomer. His majesty Luca asked me to keep an eye on you, you know. What do you think he'd say if I gave him this little piece of information?"

Jowy:
". . . . ."

[Rowd and his soldiers step closer to Jowy.]

Rowd:
"Step aside, would you?"

And now, we get why Culgan and Seed are cool...

Culgan (off-screen):
"Wait, Rowd."

[Culgan and Seed enter from the direction Riou ran off in.]

Seed:
"We were here, too, and nobody suspicious came through."

[Rowd sweattles.]

Rowd:
"Wh... What are you saying..."

Culgan:
"We'd hate to see you make a false report out of jealousy because a former subordinate is now your commanding officer."

Seed:
"That's right, we're witnesses."

Rowd:
"Damn..."

Culgan:
"You know, there's still quite a riot going on in Greenhill. Shouldn't you get yourself down there?"

Rowd:
"Damn..! All right, let's go!!"

[Rowd and company leave. Jowy turns to Culgan and Seed.]

Jowy:
"Why..."

Seed:
"Why? We love Highland. It's a wonderful country."

Culgan:
"We can't stand idly by and let it be destroyed. The only thing Luca Blight will bring about is ruin... and that is not our intention."

Seed:
"It wouldn't be pleasant to be left standing on scorched earth after the war's over, would it?"

[They step closer to Jowy.]

Culgan:
"Jowy Atreides, Commander of the Fourth Army of the Kingdom of Highland, we pledge our loyalty to you."

Seed:
"We know what your goal is. Please, use us to that end."

Jowy:
"Culgan, Seed..."

[He steps very close to them.]

Jowy:
"Your brave decision will not be in vain. Thank you..."

[Fade to black.]

Upon returning to Genkaku Castle and entering the Great Hall:

[Shu, Apple, and Viktor are waiting in the Great Hall. Riou and company approach.]

Shu:
"Excellent work, Lord Riou. And this must be Lady Teresa. Welcome to Genkaku Castle."

Teresa:
"Yes... Thank you. But I'd like to be alone right now. I want time to think."

Shin (off-screen):
"Lord Teresa."

Whoa! Teresa must have had a sex change on the trip!

[Shin and Fitcher enter.]

Teresa:
"Shin! You're safe!"

Fitcher:
"We were able to escape in the town's confusion. There are many secret paths in Greenhill."

[Teresa approaches Shin.]

Teresa:
"You made it... I'm so glad..."

Flik:
"Fitcher, I'm impressed! Getting Shin out of there was quite an accomplishment."

[Fitcher backs up.]

Fitcher:
"Oh, it wasn't just Shin..."

Nina (off-screen):
"Sir Flik!!!"

[An exclamation point appears over Flik's head. Nina runs up to him.]

Flik:
"!"

[Nina walks toward Flik, while he walks backward away from her.]

Nina:
"Sir Flik! I thought that maybe, the way I acted, I was being a nuisance to you... But... But, I know now that I simply have to be by your side! It's our destiny... That's why I followed Fitcher, I won't be a nuisance! That reminds me... I made dinner for you! Hurry, hurry! Your soup is getting cold!"

[Nina drags Flik away. Flik is sweattling, while Nina has a little musical note over her head. Shu turns to Riou.]

Shu:
". . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Lord Riou, please try to get some rest today."

[Scene fades to Riou in his bedroom at night. Eilie is in there. Why? Because obviously, no one sees anything wrong with girls hanging out in the young leader's bedroom... If Riou tries to leave, he encounters Nanami right outside his door.]

Nanami:
"Ah, Riou. Can't sleep? Come on, you've got to sleep! What'll you do if you get sick?"

[She shoves him back into his room.]

Eilie:
"No, I don't have anything in particular to talk about, I was just wondering how you were doing...."

[Riou goes to bed, and the scene fades.]

A meeting tent in the Highland camp:

[Luca is flanked by Kiba, Klaus, Culgan, and Seed. Jowy faces him. Four other soldiers are present.]

Luca:
"Hmm. So you managed to take Greenhill as you promised. I see you're more than just talk. I like that."

Jowy:
"Thank you, my lord."

Luca:
"Well, I'll keep my word as well. Tell me what you want."

Jowy:
"Yes, my lord. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I want your sister, Princess Jillia, as my wife....."

[Klaus, Culgan, and Seed react. Luca's shoulders begin to shake.]

Luca:
"Jillia.... my sister??? Hoo Hoo Hoo Ha Ha ha!!! Why you LITTLE punk!!!!!! You've got balls, I'll say that. Would you like me to remove your head from your shoulders with this blade?"

[Luca draws his sword.]

Jowy:
"No, my lord. But I know that His Majesty does not take an oath lightly. Also...... I've got an idea."

Luca:
"What is it? Speak up. If I don't like it, I promise I WILL cut off your head."

Jowy:
"But I shouldn't speak in front of so many, if you take my meaning, my lord."

Luca:
"Yes, yes. I understand. Come to my quarters later and tell me this 'idea' of yours. You'd better not be wasting my precious time."

Jowy:
"Of course."

[Scene fades to black.]
