This Ecocenter was established in the year 1997 in the industrial zone of Proença-a-Nova. It is an organisation specialised in environmental cooperation issues. This ecocenter provides the services for Oleiros, Sertã and Vila de Rei. Next they are recicled and taken to Castelo Branco.
The education programs not only give skills training and provide employment, but also draw together farmers to help support and co-operate with each other. As a result, the Ecocentre is helping to build up community in the region.
Ecocenter aims to gather together the scattered resources available for the implementation of demanding education and research projects which require wide-scale expertise. It provides services for scientific communities, environmental administration and the economic sphere to promote sustainable development. Their activities include: multidesciplinary research and reports; training, consultancy, environmental education and advice; maintenance of an environmental information service, database and communications.
