Pride Movie Review

Red Dirt

(2000, 110 min, United States, Tag Purvis)

Emily (Aleksa Palladino) and Griffith (Dan Montgomery) are kissing cousins. Their lives are stuck in a small town of Pine Apple, Mississippi. Emily is quite happy to stay in the small town. Griffith, however, feels obligated to stay to take care of his agoraphobic "aunt" Summer (played wonderfully by Karen Black). He longs to escape this small town. Things seem to change when a handsome drifter named Lee Todd (Walton Goggins) arrives into town. This feature film debut from Tag Purvis is very dreamy and had great acting. Just a warning not to watch it when you are tired, since most of it is dialog that you need to be awake to enjoy.
