May 4, 2002: The "Kinetics" is a funny boulderite race where teams have to built their own man-powered craft, which should have the capacity to race both on water and on the ground. The crafts have usually a theme and give me the opportunity to present some of the Boulder communities: the prairie dogs are protected in Boulder. They are known for building vast and intricate underground tunnels. This issue opposes the prairie dog lovers and some of the land owners who see their land ruined by the little critters. Naropa University is a private accredited college inspired by buddhism that provides traditional and untraditional coursework in a contemplative learning environment. In fall 2001, after a football match, some CU students took part to riots close to the campus, setting couches aflame, taking down lamp posts. This spring, some football players of the Colorado Univerity in Boulder (the Buffs) were suspected of hard alcohol drinking, pot smoking, rape and group sex practices. - |
