Bill Owens, the governor of Colorado, said on national television that " all Colorado is burning today" and that " it looks like a nuclear winter". The tourist industry is consternated by these comments " that could do more harm economically than the fires".

Ritalin was the topic of the main article in "Boulder Weekly" this week. Ritalin is a controversial psychiatric drug prescribed for individuals (usually children) who have an abnormally high level of activity, characterized by agitated behavior and an inability to focus on tasks (a mental disorder called Attention Deficit and Hyperactive Disorder). The drug is potentially addictive and produces a laundry list of side effects. The numbers of american children being labeled with ADHD has sky-rocketed: about 6 millions of children has been diagnosed ADHD, for which the scientific basis is still controversial.
