-Chapter Six-

Barret Wallace stood beside the back of the buggy while Tifa and Cloud
arranged room in the back seat for him.

"I can't leave her behind again," Barret shook his head. The guilt was
already starting to get to him. He didn't know how much of the heroic
things he did were really acts of heroism. He just knew that
sometimes, he did them to avoid the child. Her mother and father were
dead because of him, and he just had a hard time facing her.
Ironically, it was this guilt that had lead to his adopting her."I
guess I can't come after all."

"Of course you can." Tifa assured him. "We're going to holding the
meeting on the Highwind once we pick up Cid and Shera, so there's no
reason Elmyra and Marlene can't come along."

"Marlene has school," Barret pointed out. "I don't want her missin'
dat."

"Tell you what," Tifa offered, "we'll collect a list of her
assignments and I can tutor her until we get back home."

"You'd do that for me?" Barret smiled. "You guys are da best."

"What's on your mind, Sephy... I mean Sephiroth?" Priscilla couldn't
believe he was actually letting her comb his hair. She smiled at a
thought and reached into her pocket for something.

"More than you could possibly comprehend." Sephiroth told Priscilla
"What are you doing?" he asked, feeling a slight tug at his hair.

"I'm sorry, it was a little tangled," Priscilla apologized, omitting
to add that she had just tied a pink bow into his hair. She was an
expert in tying bows and ribbons so that their unsuspecting wearers
didn't have a clue that they even had them in their hair. "So, when do
we reach town?"

"We have an hour's journey before we reach Corel," Sephiroth replied,
standing up, "we'd better get going. We're only going there to obtain
a new chocobo from the Gold Saucer."

"I thought you could fly." Priscilla challenged.

"And just how do *you* plan on travelling?" Sephiroth challenged back.
"I'm not a passenger plane." He turned and headed off toward Corel
with Priscilla following faithfully behind.

'Daddy, are we really gonna go up in Uncle Cid's big spaceship?"
Marlene asked while she and Elmyra were packing their clothes for the
trip.

"Its an airship, honey," Barret corrected Marlene, gently, "but
that's the plan."

"What if the Highwind isn't working? Or Cid doesn't want to go up?"
Elmyra asked. "its been a while since Avalnache was together. People
do change."

"Cid not wanting to go up?!" Cloud smiled. "Tifa would be able to fit
into a training bra before Cid refused to go up."

Marlene ran off to find Tifa. "Auntie Tifa?" she asked, innocently.
"What's a training bra?"

"Why do you want to know?" Tifa asked, stunned by the child's
question.

"'Cause Uncle Cloud said you'd be able to fit in one before Cid
refused to go up in the Highchair."

"You mean the Highwind." Tifa corrected her, turning red with anger
and embarrasment. "Don't worry about the training bra, though. Your
Uncle Cloud was just being silly."

That's what she said outloud. Her mind was thinking, ~I won't kill
him. I won't kill him. I won't kill him...~
