Our First Year in Alaska
Living in Eagle River and Enjoying the Snow During our First Alaskan Winter
We lived in Eagle River during our first year in Alaska.  It's a small town about 20 minutes from Anchorage.  We liked the quiet setting but the drive, especially during the winter, was at times a bear (no pun intended)
We saw this sign on our mailbox the day after we moved. It reads: "Black bear spotted, eating trash...not afraid of dogs...WATCH YOUR CHILDREN".  Imagine Iris' reaction to this....
Above is our first house in Alaska. It had a huge backyard and quite the steep driveway. We fell a few times when it was iced over.  Nice job shoveling Vinod...
Below is our view from the living room to the neighborhood below.  Winter wonderland...October to May!!!
Maddie and Daddy loved playing in the snow all winter.  This is Maddie's favorite toy...her sled. She loved flying down the cul-de-sac wearing her snow bib and panda hat
This was about 9 p.m. the first day that it snowed.  Maddie was wearing pajamas under her snowsuit.  She had never seen snow before.  Iris only lasted about 20 minutes....it was toooo COLD!!!!
