Vinod Kothari is widely acclaimed as the "guru" of Indian leasing. Author, educator and consultant, he lectures all over the country on leasing and hire-purchase. Over past 11 years, he has trained more than 3000 executives at all levels in course of about 200 training sessions both in-house and open-house. He was also a contributor at the Asian Leasing Convention held in 1997 in Mumbai and the coordinator for the Asian Leasing Convention 1998 in Dhaka. In Dhaka, Vinod was responsible for complete design of the course, selection of speakers and editing of the souvenir. |
In the world of Indian leasing, Vinod Kothari fulfils complete educational and advisory needs. He is consultant to most of the top 100 leasing companies in India, including leasing divisions of banks.
Vinod Kothari is also advisor and consultant on corporate laws. His grasp on corporate laws is evident in he being one of the specialist editors of A Ramaiya’s Company Law, a treatise running over 5000 pages.
EDUCATION
Vinod Kothari, 36 is a Chartered Accountant and a Company Secretary with brilliant academic record. He has been ranker holder in high school, college, and topped the Eastern Region in Chartered Accountancy final exams.
PUBLICATIONS
Vinod Kothari was the author of the first Indian treatise on Leasing in 1985. His book Lease Financing and Hire-purchase, now in 4th edition, runs into about 2000 pages, and is regarded as the most authentic text on the subject in India, and is read in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. Besides, he has authored several other occasional publications as Pricing and Structuring of Leasing and Hire-purchase, Strategic Perceptions in Leasing and Hire-purchase, Securitisation.
Vinod Kothari’s articles on leasing and other finance-related topics have appeared in Asset Finance and Leasing Digest, UK, Monitor, USA, LeasingLife, UK, Journal of International Banking Law, UK, The Equipment Financing Journal, USA besides a number of journals in India. The January-Feb 1998 issue of the Monitor, USA carried his article as the lead cover story. He is one of the specialist editors of A Ramaiya's Company Law, a company law book running over 5000 pages.
TRAINING COURSES
Over last 11 years, Vinod Kothari has conducted training sessions on in-house basis for some of the top Indian financial organisations, and for most of them several times. To name a few: State Bank of India (India’s largest bank), Canara Bank ( India’s second largest bank), HDFC (India’s largest housing finance company), Kotak Mahindra Finance (India’s most noted finance company), Tata Finance (India’s largest vehicles financier) Industrial Finance Corporation of India (Govt of India body for financing industrial development), etc. For Tata Finance, Vinod Kothari ran a series of in-house workshops all over the country followed by a year-long correspondence course.
On open-house basis, Vinod Kothari holds about a dozen courses every year at all locations in India and his courses are consistently rated "excellent".
CONSULTING ASSIGNMENTS:
Vinod Kothari treasures almost every major player in Indian leasing market as his clients, having handled various significant assignments. He has developed complete leasing systems for State Bank of India, devised a retail financing product for Kotak Mahindra Finance, structured a consortium lease transaction for leading financial companies, and structured and advised on a major leveraged lease transaction for UTI Bank where IFC Washington will be involved as the lender.
POSITIONS
Vinod Kothari is the Director of Association of Leasing and Financial Services Cos., a body of over 500 top leasing companies in India and is editor of its Newsletter Fin-n-lease.
Vinod Kothari was a Visiting Faculty at Indian Institute of Management, Joka, Calcutta for 4 years and taught Taxation in Business Finance.
AWARDS
In 1987, a voluntary organisation of Calcutta chose him as the Outstanding Young Person of Calcutta in the field of Finance and Taxation. Vinod Kothari won several academic awards.
