Alexander Vinokourov |
Alexander Vinokouorv was born on 16 september 1973 in Petropavlovsk kazakhstan. After he went to a cycling-boarding school in Almaty he moved at an age of 16 to France. |
In 1998 he finaly started his career as a professional cyclist at the Casino Team. But in 2000 people started to get to know him better when he decided to ride for the German Team-Telekom (T-mobile), where he still rides today. Most of the time you could see him pulling the sprints for his team mate Erik Zabel or he was working in the mountainstages for Jan Ullrich. But last season when "Der Jan" left the team, Vino had the opportunity to ride more for himself and booked some great results and is now one of the big favourites in the peloton and is also loved by the media. But now that Ullrich came back to T-mobile it seems that Vino has to work more for and with him again in the large mountainstages the upcomming year. So when we look back on the season of 2003 you can say that Vino has become a very succesfull man who won a couple of tours, crits and stages. But he's also a very happy man when it comes to his family. Together with his wife Svetlana, they are the proud parents of 3 beautiful children. The eldest is a little girl called Irina and last year Svetlana gave birth to their twin-sons Nikolas and Kiril. |
After all the bad luck of 2002 worse after the death of pro Kivilev who fell during Paris-Nice. friend of Vinos but in stead of hang down, he kept going, feeling ever and started a fabilous year. He won Paris-Nice (for the second time), the Amstel Gold Race, Tour de Suisse and also ended third in the Deutschland Tour and the Tour de France. Next to that he won a stage in the Tour the France and also a couple of other smaller races and crits. Of course we expect a lot for the season of 2004 and we are sure that Vino will allways ride with his heart and will give all he's got every single race. (c) Billy& Silly |
