Out there some where she waits for you, the way you wait on her ...

Two Days and Three Nights ... (Part I - Moments)

My hero comes as a project lead in a university. His job description asks for him to be seen for the things to be done. He is a jovial, caring, friendly, and a lone soul. He comes nice with his talk and wit; he is there when people need him and is no bad a character. More on it begs to say him to be lean, tall, handsome and moreover a poet in himself. He understands others and tries in his personal life to live with those he cares for.

My heroine is a moody type; she isn't just that fair, but soft spoken and a nice person for all she's known of. She is with her job, all times, pertaining to see that she cares of no one else, that included her too. No one can guess what goes on in her mind. She seems to be happy with her being alone, never waits for anyone in the table or for someone to walk with on her way back, may be that's because none cared on her. She had been in the project under him for nearly two months now, and to the surprise never had she delayed the work to be done, or had she presented things wrong. In that sense of the word, everyone in here knows her for the quality stuff she displays.

It's cold and misty outside because of the climate and this is already the Christian year-end. The chambers are empty, all have left for their native, or to party somewhere. Here in the chamber left are our characters, and it's already ticking towards six.

Our guy in here is in his personal cabin, replying to the mails, hearing some nice song and listening to his mind over the deeds. He did his regular jobs and was on his paper. He was cursing himself for being got trapped in here over the project. He is apparently thinking of being with his parents and family members on new year end, but things don't usually happen the way we intend to. He is the only one who knows of the client's requirement and so is he in here for without the usual deeds. He having listened to one of his favorites, had lost to whater' is by the side.

Our lady is still on her system, with apparent taught for leaving on the day. She guessed that the old watchman uncle, whom alone she talks to, moreover smiles at would be there to lock the cabins. For she too is aware that all have left and they won't be there for the next three days. She remembers that she has to spend these days alone in the Univ., hostel with none around, even without the mess people. She had to go out and get some bread and sandwich to manage on these days. On remembering these, she prepares to leave.

Our guy here is still in the dreams. It was quite natural of him to be told that, he'd have got lost in one of those mysterious worlds, with one of his fancies. He sees the cake in front of him and taught of eating it, before the eve is celebrated, but something prevented that happening, may be it was the party that went on there hours ago, before every one left.

This lady by the time had packed her bags on. She had withered by the cold. Her skin so shrewd, that someone on first taught will think that she would be on her ages that of a aged soul. Her hair is disturbed and on first taught anyone will mistake her for a maid or a lady doing her housekeeping. She picks up her bag and leaves her cabin after switching off the supplies. There was no aptness that's usually seen on a young lady, there was no cheer nor enthusiasm on the new year approaching. There was something that this lady is accountable for, there is some story there in her part, who is going to tell me on this ?

Our guy is meanwhile in his fifth world, swimming thro' a dream world where he sees a new creation coming up. In a day or two, you can expect the miracle in the form of a writing from him. He is known to be the best of situation makers and creative thinking. He knows how to manage with the physical situation of where a person is, what's there in the mind, howz' the heart is inclined to those stages, what will be the immediate outcome and other such sort. Over the years he had learnt to master in these talents and that's what made him a cheer keeper.

Our lady is passing thro' her leads cabin, and sees him lying on his chair with his boots on the table. From his third world taught, he happened to see this person moving and artificially, lents a smile. But our lady didn't care for all these and she had already passed the cabin. Our guy didn't mind it at all, as it had no impact on his taught, and continued with his creation.

She passed over the lobby, where the party dines were still floating around. There was a lot still untouched. She happened to remember someone calling her for the party. She guessed, that these should have been the party left offs. Did she curse those for spoiling good food and making a mess all around, or was it that she was wondering that such events do occur in life ?

As he was continuing with these efforts, there was something unusual coming on the way. His conscience was disturbed by the fact that some thing was wrong. He would bet that he heard some one scream. He got back to his conscience, saw that the panic is still in there, as some one was seemed to scratch off a table or a sort. He rushed off to see it, the cabins were all empty and there was none on sight. He doubted a intruder, and was in alert. He went to the corridor to see whose around, saw none but our lady around, he couldn't understand. He neared her, there was the smell of pain on her. She apparently should have slipped over the coke spilt on the party floor, hours before when it went on. There was this conclusion as he could see the sign of a foot slipped over and her slippers were a distant apart, as if a drunken car. As she was still on the floor, he lent her his hand for a grip, but she managed to get up herself. He asked her 'are you alright'. Yes sir, I am fine, just happened to slip off the water.

He was sure that she wasn't fine as there was her face showing off all sort of pain in it. If she's left alone for some time now, there would be a cry and tears roll over the cheeks. He realising that decided to act over, after all they are on the same team and he knew that there was none to help. He called the watchman for assistance, for he had known by this time that she was in good terms with him. He got some cold water for her and asked her to take it, she apparently had a sip and then gave up, as it was too cold for the time. He could see that the wound was cut and blood gushing out of it. He tried to get that viewed by bowing down, to which she reacted sharply by a duck. She reacted as if he was trying to drag her down by pulling of the feat. She was not to have been blamed for as she was not in line with any of them either, or to say she wasn't on the friendly line with him. Did she have any friends to understand that care of friendship, he was trying to show her by ?

Understanding this, he asked her to pour the water over the wound so that the cut be seen, when the blood is off. She did that and to no surprise, she yelled with pain when water cleansed fresh wound in blood. He couldn't help the situation. By the time the watchman was there and he asked her to be attended on. He was sorry for the poor soul, he spelled words of gratitude on her, what else was possible by then ? He got the fist aid box, got tincture and dressed her up. Our guy meanwhile left for his cabin, but since he couldn't stay any long there he came back to the attendee. He asked the watchman how she was to which the reply was that there was medicine applied, but blood hasn't stopped. 'It is better that a doctor be consulted'.

As there was none to be asked to move with her, he decided to go with to the hospital. When he spelt that out, she couldn't afford to refuse, as that came from a authority, and moreover she started feeling that she can't make it alone, so she accepted the offer. Neither of them could have realised by now, that there was something unusual that was going to happen following this incident.

And then it went on, after attending to the wounds, the watchman left for his duty. They started to move to the hospital. She picked up her bag and he got his. She was literally limping off the track and there was such pain in the legs. He understood the matter, but couldn't help. This probably was a first time in him attending to a lady colleague, and moreover to a person like ours who lives in a world of her own.

The climate was better this day, it would have been nearing 06:30 in another five ten minutes, but the sunlight was still there, or was it the moons own gloom. Anyway there was enough light on their path. They have now got to walk around a kilometer distance to cover to the main gate, and from there decide where to go. To their fate, the campus buses are halted on the holiday and there is no transport available except for walking. As this is the case, our guy knows that it's going to be a long way ahead, as this lady is limping.

They would have walked for nearly five minutes, without a word. This guy is trying to get involved by acting a fool of his own. He sees the sky, calls the wind, and was trying to create something. But for some reason it's not working and that he's not able to understand. So he decides to have a chat. He asked, 'are you feeling ok now ?', not expecting this our lady passes a yimp and then answers with a shrill voice that 'the pain is troubling, and she finds it hard to walk'. So he asked to sit along somewhere for sometime and then continue the walk. He called for the lakeside, which was some hundred feet away to be it, and so they were dragging the roads. He then asked, 'why didn't you go for the eve', she said, 'I am away from these things, it's all the same day to me'. She asked why he's here this time, for which he blamed himself for being in this post, and that the Director needs him there for the next weeks meeting of clients. He wished that things could have been the other way around. He was telling her of all the fun and entertainment he'd have had, had been he there at home. 'But that's twelve hundred miles away, and so I can't make it by time for the next weeks meet; it'd have been nice with all those loving ones in there to be with'.

He then asked her of her family members, she said of the old aged parents in the deserted village. There is a railway station three kilometers away from which she got to walk from, in case she wants to go there. She was literally let thro' from young age with a choice to choose between education and home making. She chose the former and so was left alone from child hood. She had to listen to what her mind speaks of more. From her saying he can understand that she loves her parents very much. She is indebted for the good things they've done for her and longs to be with them. But it may he her financial situation or may be something else that prevents her from going back. She is hurt by mind and heart for the deeds she couldn't have with parents and family in there. 'They are there in this remote village, where a train stops by mistake, and then got to walk three kilometers, with whater' is on the shoulders, finding out which way the village was lost. And then parents, in a old age, who gave me this choice to get educated and for them I am indebted to, would like to be with them for a choice, but always have to decide on the contrary'. He could notice that there was pain floating on the face and for the first time, he felt a little care on her personally.

By this time they reached the end of the lake and they were settling near the entrance covering the path of bushes. They sat down, however she with some difficulty. He collected some pebbles, which he started to raise the lake water with and she was sitting there like a beaten dog, in pain. At a distance, she could see children playing some game. There was laughter and merry all long there. Those kids were in holiday mood and were with the eve's dishes. There were babies to school kids, with their care takers around playing in there. She was watching them with shrewd enthusiasm in her face. For the first time, he is seeing joy in her face. He started to feel that there was something in her that's haunting and that's what makes her a reserved type.

By the time he finished with the pebbles, he decided that it's time to move. She called her by name and asked her if they could move. But she wasn't to be disturbed for, for she was involved too much in the happenings. She was watching as if a child seeing a fantasy. He called a little louder and that brought back her conscience. She asked what, with that expression on that face. He could see the mixed emotions of pain, mystery and coldness on her face. 'Shall we move, it's getting late', 'ok'. She tries to get up on her own, but fails. He gave his hand, with out knowing what's on she collected it and got up. 'You are enjoying the kids play, seems I am creating sin, by making you move away'. 'I just got back to those tender days, when I had been in such situations. Is there some fun and merry, naughtiness and stupidity, that I not do when I'd been one such', sayin' this she was one step up. Suddenly realising some thing, she was beating and wiping hard her hand, seemed to tear off the finger prints, for she had felt that she has done something wrong by holding his hands.

Our guy meanwhile was facing those kids, asking himself and answering, 'yes I did all those mischief and stupidity when I were young'. Her voice was echoing on his ears, he felt this as if it were some unknown secret that was told to him by a Jen or sort. Lost in this mystery, they started to move off, his watch showed that it will take ten minutes for it to get to seven.

They'd have walked for some ten feat, when she felt something weird. The bandage made around her wound has slipped of. There was blood still trying to find it's way out. He couldn't hold it any longer, he picked up his hankie' and tried to make it a bandage. Sensing that she acted as if apparently not interested in and pushed back. He said, 'forgive me for this, else if you are not allowing me do this, all of your blood will ooze off and you will go pale'. She laughed to this, and our guy made use of this chance, he bowed down and caught her legs. She felt adrenaline rush off her body, her nerves felt some strange senses. He raised the dress to the minimum height of access and was investigating the wound. It was a deep cut, which has got split do to the walk. He tied the cloth around the wound and made a tight knot. He then raised his head and asked her 'is it fine now'. She wasn't having words to this, but shook her head in despair. When he did this, he saw the heavens behind her and to the surprise, there was the full moon, exactly behind her. He lost himself in trying to compare the two, 'In which world am I where I see two moons co exist', he said to himself. He related the person who he longed to meet all long, with her. To him at this instance it seemed as if she is the fairest of all in the whole planet. He got a full glimpse of her and was saying things, unusual. Neither was she interested in hearing what he said, she was there seeing the man below her, taking total care of her, and who spared his own hankie' for this purpose. For her these were all anew and there was nothing to be compared of. She was still in the mysterious world, engaged in all those puzzles. They then started to move off, with things in their mind, making one think of none but the other.

By this time they came near to the main gate, and the gatekeeper gave a big wish to our guy. He came back to conscience, then there was a big whistling sound of the train going by. The train was there some five hundred feet away and two hundred feet above ground level. It was gushing forward with full steam, this made her come back in reality. They had two choices now, either they go some three thousand feet around and cross the uphill, thro' a bridge there or else climb the path retracing a twenty feet to the other side. He said that they take the later as it was already late, and they won't reach the other side if that walked at this pace. She smiled and followed him. The path mentioned was created by Univ., walkers and it wasn't that fascinating anyhow. It is possible for a kid to easily tumble on this pavement, and so was it cut.

He made her walk in front, so that he can have control on the situation if she happened to tumble. She took the first few steps and then had to catch the ground to prevent her falling back. It was hard for her to place the steps, as she had to drag them up. He watched it for a second, she turned back and there was confusion on her face on what to do. She realised that she wasn't going to make it up. There was this puzzling expression on her face which asked him, shall we take the long route. He hesitated a second and did some thing neither taught of before a minute. He said, 'we are supposed to do this some how, and if you are going to feel bad for it, so be it'. Saying this, he apparently lifted her as if a child by her waist and held her in both arms and started walking. He started feeling that it wasn't a heavy task doing this, for he found it a easy go. He felt that she should be below fifty, by the weight he had in his hands. Our lady by now, having unexpected this was in total distress. She couldn't dare move, for she feared that both will tumble the ridge down. Her nerves were all clung tight and she didn't move a bit. There was confusion on the face as if asking 'why did you do this', or maybe because of the nearness of him. He was managing to end the path and finally ended it.

By the time they reached the top, he dropped her and faced the other side, for he couldn't do the other way. He was afraid if she'd have taught bad of his doing, but she didn't speak of a word. How could a plastic doll speak, for she was one such like. Descending down was easy for her, but still he was in her front to see that she doesn't tumble. On an occasion he happened to see her face to face, which he found hard now, as he was sensing guilt in himself. She too was the same, but was comfortable now, as she managed to see, not to give him another such chance for. When they were back down, there was more crowd, as it seemed as the part of a town. She was the first to break the silence, 'thanks, for otherwise I wouldn't have made it out'. He wasn't interested in it at all, but lent a smile of guilt, 'why do you say that to me, it's not needed as far as I feel now', is what he said himself. 'There is the hospital, around the corner', pointing to a building on eyesight.

They reached the hospital and got the tokens. She gave her details and begged for a lady doc' to be seen for. They entered the doc's room and he was the first to go. He held the door open, so that she could manage to have a uninterrupted access. The doc' was in her thirties, and was a funny type. On seeing them both and her limping, she had guessed up on something. 'Please take your seat sir, and you madam the one near me'. 'So what's the problem with your wife sir', was what she asked him. He was off his minds by now, he was far from answering anything, as he was totally showing a confused and puzzled appearance on his face. She smiled openly and funnily and said that he was her boss, and she had a fall, on which he was caring for. The doc' felt guilty for it and apologised, 'Sorry for this confusion, on seeing you together like this, I taught that way'. 'While going back, tell them all that you aren't couples, for I alone spoke'. He smiled and the doc' was involved in the wound. She cleaned the wound, applied medicine, and gave an injection. She gave some prescriptions for the next day. 'The leg is swollen, but there is no fear. Let her have her diet and sleep, if there is any need to come, come tomorrow, otherwise the medicine will care for it'. The doc' was paid and they left.

She was feeling sort of comfortable now, after the painkiller was given. Unknown to the doc' she preserved the hankie' in her purse, which she was holding so near to her. The clock showed 7:30 and they were done in this side of the world. She remembers the fate of the mess, so she called him for a cafe. 'I'm afraid, there aren't any rations left for me on these days, the mess is closed and if I don't bag things now in here, I'll have to starve for the three days still to come. Can I eat up some more of your time at the cafeteria'. Seeing her speak a long word, and cracking a joke by the end, he said, 'so you too know to make fun on'. They laughed and entered the cafeteria. They had some snacks and coffee in there and she bagged some stuff for the holidays. He intended to pay, to which she set the alarm. He replied, 'sorry in this case, I don't make my subordinates pay for anything, when they buy something in my presence and that I am involved in', and paid for the stuff. The bearer got a decent tips that time, which she watched.

She was much changed by now, there was smile in the face and she faced him right in front of the eyes. It seemed to her that the world of her's getting changed, she was guessing on what was to come next. I got to eat up those words used to describe her, for the cheer in her now makes one feel her to be the most enthusiastic and energetic soul around. It was he who was inside her causing the changes. She realised that her heart was no more hers and that her mind wasn't listening to obey her anymore. They prepared to move with the big parcel, he lifted it up. 'Sir, why not give me the opportunity to at least take the parcel with me', she said this with hands in her wrist, with a anguish looking face. 'Why should I allow you do it, when it was I who paid the stuff'. They stared at each other for some time, and then they laughed. The shopkeeper didn't understand, neither did anyone. They left for the road and reached to the railway pavement.

This time she gave him no chance, for she climbed uphill like a smart kid. He was behind her, swift up as if an athlete. On reaching the other side, they smiled and snared at each other, knowing what went on and why. They reached the hostel and he handed over the packages to her. There was only the watchman and a few more ladies on the whole building. The rooms are lighted up arbitrarily and very low in count. He bid her a good-bye and left for his quarters. He had to walk a few minutes, before he could reach his cottage. On the way he saw the children playing near the lake, he recollected what she said earlier. 'Is there some fun and merry, naughtiness and stupidity, that I not do when I'd been one such'. They were a fresh in his minds and he happened to remember her. 'On this misty cold night, heaven didn't keep me preinformed that I will see my honey', 'Fool should I have been for not noting her presence before me whence she was always there with me'. He was fully disturbed by her being, she was taking charge on him, like a loving angel running in the stage for a merry song. 'No one ever taught me that love is swift and can get control of me, when attending to my wishes'. He saw some moth flying on the streetlight, to him it seemed as butterflies. They were flying and dancing in the moonlight. They came around him and in all instances made him remember of her. He said to himself, 'I never taught that love can come to me'. By this time he was already in his house.

She had reached her room by now and she lied down in her cot. The fan was running above her, she was fancying it revolving. She was recollecting the things that went on with him all evening. She was taken over by his taught, and apparently bit her lips to seal the emotions that left her. She felt the feelings in hers demanding her to be in his presence. He was walking there around her taught and were invoking her all thro'. She was trying to understand all that is happening to her in this short period of time. She let her eyes go thro' the windows, being in the second floor she could see the leaves waning in the air. She remembered him waving adieu' whence he was leaving. She couldn't control the taught, all of him. She could feel herself floating in wonderland, and for the first time she felt, that she can't be herself any more. And so the night goes on ...
