The History of
Independence Day
Independence day is the national holiday of the United States ofAmerica commemorating the signing of the Declaration of Independence from the of England's King George III.  The Continental Congress signed the Delcaration of Independence on the 4th July 1776, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. During this time the US consisted of 13 colonies, and growing unrest grew surrounding the taxes the colonists were to pay to England. their major arguement was, " Taxation without Representation", the colonists had no say in the decisions made by the English Parliament.
Rather than negotiating with the colonists King George III sent additional troops to the colonies to deal with any rebelling.
In 1774 the 13 colonies elect representatives to send to Philedelphia to form the First Continental Congress.
In April of 1775 King Georges troops advance on Concord, Massachusetts. This prompted the ride of Paul Rever alarming the "British are Coming!".
Subsequently the battle of Concord marked the unofficial begning of the American Revolution, with the "shot heard around the world".
Happy 4th of July!!!
