![]() Assembly by Theater of Tragedy. Wow, I passed on Musique but I think this one is also another change in direction from what i've read of 2000's Musique. And its a good move forward. Assembly seems to be more in the vein of future pop music with dance and industrial elements and although I do not have the vocabulary for this type of music I am reminded of some of Madonna's later work, New Order's latest, a bit of Garbage, Curve, hints of Lush, and some songs I've heard from the Kidney Thieves who are on the Queen of the Damned soundtrack. Its a good move for Theater of Tragedy. Most of these aforementioned bands foster a forward vision even within today's mainstream. Theater of Tragedy probably benefits from their metal background as it comes up as a solid backbone and doses of heaviness that most non-metal bands here crave. There's some "chugs" and some rock drums. For the most part the best parts of Assembly are the synthesized sounds and Liv Kristine.. whoa! She is a liberated woman. All her talents are out now, she truly shines in all types of singing, from husky to breathlessly in rapture, all with a keen twist of melody that makes her sound like Kylie Minogue. Yummy too! This is future rocking music with synthesized guitar sounds and busy keyboards. Its got a futuristic feel. Its got a European flavor - qualities that were trademark of 80s New Wave. Assembly could be a part of its renaissance. I am almost reminded of riding the Metro with Berlin. They're ready for prime time. Sadly they are on the wrong label. And this review is on the wrong message board.(Perpetual Motion) Score 3.5/5 by Alzn |
