Tides of Tomorrow by Cave In

Its like jumping on the merry go round, a world of motion-filled bliss distinctly of its own life and then jumping off - you've lost this experience. In the realm of proper, melodic singing and four piece rock without alot of special effects, this is the best new direction in rock. This is where Porcupine Tree should have gone. Tides of Tomorrow is an EP in between their raw beginnings to their upcoming major label debut. Its a tight album altogether, spanning emotinal chapters with just 5 songs. Yet they're 5 songs of varying crescendo, simple chops building on each other to the point of being something grand. They're layers and layers of an intricate tapestry of distinct pieces. Its like flipping channels yet all the programs are part of the big story. One song is orgasmic. Another is like a proclamation. The title track is flippant then inquisitive. The fourth is defiant. The last seems defiant yet retrospective.

indie inspired rock with a big, grand sound.

Score 4.5/5
