mudvayne > ld50

Raunchy and extremely deafening; gargling death vocals barking the rebel yell then harmonizing the choir boy mentality; double pedal revving pounding out your chest and a swanky bass slapping you with its long .... what do you picture? From start to finish, the 70 minute orgasm never ends. Could these guys ever let up? The first song is a blast. The second is even more pounding. The third keeps going. The fourth is still slamming. The fifth rocks the headboard. The 13th... Off the sexual trip, on first listen I am as if I just got off the newest, scariest, death defying roller coaster ride, doubled over and shaking. But with my sick and twisted sense of thrill and adventure I want more. Addictive, just like watching Shark attacks on the Nature Channel. You can’t get enough. There are so many things to experience. Everything is different at each turn. And each is massively heavy. Each trill roll and drum roll and bass roll and whole fighter wing of a barrel roll is something new, something technical, a mind play for the ears... another imposible viewing angle in the XXX DVD...

...back down to the real world, the information now society...

LD50 by Mudvayne is a sci-fi concept story of neo-Darwinist theory fronting a drug fantasy. Great musicians. A chameleon of a singer. A young band influenced by Tool and whatever supercharged legacy of the Bad Brains, Mudvayne is with the "IN" crowd. But they are probably outsiders within because they don’t rap enough, they are unsimplified, they’re not too much on MTV or rock radio, and maybe unsexy. I think I see more kids into Korn and Slipnot. For me, they’re missing out on the future of metal as usual.
