mudvayne > the beginning of all things to end

This is the rerelease of the Mudster’s demo CD following the group’s mercurial debut L.D. 50 on Epic last year. As an added bonus there are a couple of dance mixes and the extended trip out instrumental L.D. 50. Those songs are horrible. Its easy to appreciate the band’s raw edge in the first 8 tracks, all previously and highly sought after in the underground. The then unpolished band showed enough chops and gusto to get noticed. Not as brash as their commerical debut, the ferocity and mindset is definately Tool inspired with Kud crooning instead of yelling. And their loose approach while quite expected from a demo CD, almost captures the teen spirit of Nirvana’s own demo Bleach. The bonus dance remixes of the already commercial rippen "Dig" however are horrible. Get real DJs please. And the extended L.D.50 is extravagant.

Score 70/100
