![]() Escape by Ram-Zet Hearing a few songs from Ram-Zet's first album Pure Therapy provided a clue to their uniquely crazed vision. I was expecting relentless craziness but I did not expect to hear the equation equated with the balance of a woman's touch and even more musical diveristy. Well here's an intrigueing new type of heavy metal from Europe - Escape by Ram-Zet. Its a genre spanning sound that hopes to absorb fans of both old and new metal. Ram-Zet seems to be a bizarre love triangle that requires your attention. The raspy male vocals and vibrant female vocals are the main characters. Ms. Sfinx and Ms. Sareeta are the "Beauties" who delivers a range of operatic, clean, soaring, lush or quiet singing that surprises with captivating melodies. The psychotic Mr. Zet, is the "Beast" who can rasp, scream, and wail in almost an emotionally draught, Pain of Salvation way. While this Beauty and the Beast/male & female vocalist duet is quite a dialogue of emotionally charged personalities, they do not stand apart from the everflowing, metamorphing music that is a mixture of power metal, gothic metal, technical metal and all points in between and out. The pace is busy, moving and changing almost spontaneously without cues and buildup. New sounds evolve and melodies seem to not be repeated elsewhere. Blasting beats, snappy beats, jazzy prog metal touches, atmospheric heaven, and oddworld drama brings an exciting freshness to the forefront of this Ram-Zet trinity. Score 4/5 by Alzn |
