code of life by warrior

Rob Rock and Warrior front their second album of seemingly atypical American power metal with the sci-fi themed The Code of Life. The first three tracks are sizzling. They have a tough modern sound that doesn’t sound like every other 80’s, retread power metal. A few other songs on the album carry the sci-fi theme throughout. And Rob Rock ,who dipped from radar after MacAlpine and Sarzo’s Project Driver eons ago in the Yngwie-esque band of Chris Impelliteri, sounds like a real warrior. He has a huge voice here. After the first three tracks though Warrior kicks the bucket. Warrior reverts to their level of competition with very typical 80’s anthems. Gawd! Sing along to Bon Jovi will you! And that lyrical phrase "open your eyes and realize" is so over used its sickening.

Score 60/100
