“Lord of the Rye”-The Game!

Directions:

To win: The first player to reach the “finish” square at the end of the board is the winner.

How to Play:

1. Each player (there can be up to 4 players) must choose a fame piece and place it on the “start” square.
2. The first player rolls the die and advances that number of squares.
3. After moving, the player must choose a question card from one of the envelopes.
4. If the player answers the question correctly he or she can stay on that space.
5. However, if he/she answers incorrectly or does not know the answer he/she must move back to the space they were at before they rolled the die. The question card must be placed back in the envelope at the bottom of the pile.
6. This player’s turn is now complete.
7. Continue taking turns until one person reaches the “finish” square.
8. The first person to reach the “finish” square is the winner.

Special Squares:

1. “Star” space- If a person lands on a space with a star it is considered a free space. They may stay there without taking a question card.
2. Smiley Face space- If a person lands on a space that has a smiley face on it he/she must first answer their question correctly. If he/she does so, he/she can take another turn. If they answer the question correctly he/she can remain on this space. However, if the question is answered incorrectly he/she must move back to the Smiley Face space and wait for their next turn.
