Megan Chalek
I have been playing the violin for about fifteen years. I began playing in the North Penn School District when I was 8 years old. I took group lessons in my elementary school, and played with the Elementary Honors Orchestra. In sixth grade I began taking private lessons with Frances Duthie, a wonderful (and strict!) teacher to whom I owe a great deal of thanks for my confidence and skills. Mrs. Duthie gave me the knowledge to pursue a position in the University of Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Roger Zahab, as well as the Ambler Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Jack Moore. My most recent instrument--the Yamaha Silent violin--is a great addition to my hobby, and I hope to be able to use it some day in a professional sense. Thanks for taking a moment to learn about one of the most important aspects of my life.
