Part 2 The Break-In
"How did she rope me into this?" Hikari muttered under her breath.
"What did you say?" Nao looked at her curiously, then frowned. "Your moustache is
coming loose."
Hikari pressed her fingertips against the fake moustache glued above her upper lip. "This
is such a stupid idea, Nao. Maybe you were able to bribe that waiter so we could use these
uniforms and the delivery cart, but these disguises will never fool Ryuji. He'll laugh in our faces
as soon as he opens the door."
Nao grinned underneath her own moustache. "No, he won't, trust me."
Hikari studied the younger girl and decided she looked rather nice in the black and white
waiters' uniform, and the tam hat hid her hair fairly well even if it looked kind of odd with the
clothes ...but she still didn't believe that Ryuji would let them into the room. She shook her head.
"He'll never let me live this down if he catches us."
"You're worrying too much, Hikari. That's not like you. Are you turning into an old
woman?"
Hikari stopped pushing the cart in front of her and grabbed Nao in a headlock. "WHO is
an old woman?!"
"Gak!" Nao squeaked out. "Not you, Hikari-san! Never you!"
"Hikari-_sama_," the older performer corrected sweetly.
"Hikari-_sama_!" repeated the younger, choking performer.
"Better." Hikari released her and resumed pushing the cart. Nao rubbed her throat and
grinned as she watched her go with renewed respect.
It took only a few more minutes to reach Ryuji's hotel room door. Hikari was about to
knock when Nao slipped in front of her. "Keep a look-out," she said, her attention focused on
something in her hand.
"What do you mean 'keep a look-out'?" Hikari asked, glancing down to see what Nao
was fiddling with. She gasped to see her unlocking the door. "Where did you get the key?!"
"From one of the maids," Nao replied.
"Just how many free show tickets did you hand out today, anyway? And did it occur to
you that he might just be _in_ there?"
"He's not if Yuhka did her part." Nao pushed the door open a crack and peeked in. "All
clear! Let's go!"
Hikari followed her with the cart and pushed the door shut behind her. "Now that we're
here, would you tell me what you have in mind?"
"Mr. Hotshot is bragging about knowing his lines so well; let's see how he gets along
without his script tomorrow." Nao pulled open the drawer by the bedside table. "Now where
would he keep it?" she murmured. "Come on, Hikari, help me look!"
Hikari gazed up at the ceiling and shrugged. Nao was like a force of nature and obviously
nothing she said would stop her, so she may as well join her. Besides, it would be interesting to
find out just how prepared Ryuji _really_ was ....
Yuhka nibbled on a fingernail and anxiously waited for Ryuji to return to the auditorium
stage. The others had left, so she didn't have to worry about them blowing her story or otherwise
interrupting. She only had to keep him there for fifteen minutes, Nao had said, and then kissed
her earlobe in such a way that Yuhka had agreed to participate before she even realized it. Good
thing the sexy dancer hadn't asked her to jump off the roof of the theatre - she'd probably have
done that, too.
"Yuhka?"
She turned and smiled at Ryuji as he came past the theatre seats toward her, his
expression concerned. "You sounded upset on the phone, is something wrong?"
"Oh, I'm probably making a big deal out of nothing," she sighed heavily. "It's just that
I'm having trouble with this one pattern of dance steps and can't seem to get it down. You're
such an accomplished dancer I thought you could help."
"Oh, well, thank you," Ryuji said, scratching his head. "But if you don't mind my asking,
why are you not practising with Nao? She's an excellent dancer, too, and the two of you perform
most of the dances together or with the other senshi, not with Tiger Eye. Besides, I thought you
and Nao were ...."
Yuhka held up her hand. "Wrong. We're not." She frowned, lowering her hand. "At least
she hasn't said so."
"Ah. Okay, I won't go there." Ryuji smiled. "But I still don't know why you'd ask me
for help in this over her."
Deciding that Ryuji was too shrewd for her to use flattery, Yuhka thought fast. She gave
him a sheepish look. "Well, to be honest, she wasn't in her room."
Ryuji laughed. "_That's_ more like it. All right, I'll try to help you."
Hurry up, Nao, Yuhka thought as she smiled gratefully at Ryuji.
"Where IS it?!" Nao exclaimed in frustration. "I wonder if he anticipated my doing this
and took it with him."
"_No one_ could have anticipated you doing this, girl," Hikari complained. "Lord knows
if _I_ had, I wouldn't have let you drag me here."
"Yes, you would," Nao replied, putting her hands on her hips as she surveyed the room.
"If I were Ryuji, where would I put my script?"
"After the way you talked to him, probably up your - "
"Forget I asked," Nao retorted, then froze, her eyes widening. "Did you hear that?"
Hikari listened and realized there was a clicking sound at the door. A quick look and she
saw in horror that the knob was turning!
"In here!" Nao hissed, grabbing her arm and hauling her into the closet. She barely
pulled the door shut before they heard someone enter the room.
