THE MOST FAMOUS NIGHT IN CARTOONING HISTORY
It was on the night of December 17th, 1989 that the Simpsons first 30-minute length cartoon, Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire, a Christmas special premiered on the TV Channel, FOX. Twentieth Century Fox had seen the Simpsons short clips on The Tracy Ullman Show and had offered them their own 30-minute Sitcom. On January 14th, 1990, The Simpsons moved into a weekly spot to air their show. This date is considered the Simpsons real birthday.
Now, 11 seasons and at least another 2 more to come, The Simpsons, the longest running and most successful animated prime-time series. On January 14th, 2000, The Simpsons celebrated their 10th birthday. Also on January 14th, 2000, exactly 10 years after the Simpsons aired on a regular basis, The Simpsons received their own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, it's located in front of Galaxy Theatre. |
