VIPUL BANSAL

Vipul BansalI'm Vipul Bansal, living in Delhi, India. What excites me like nothing else is to get into a new territory; learn it; and then take the best in the space head on and beat them at it. You cannot do it all the time and with everyone, but if willing to have a go, you can surely do it most of the time with most people. Interestingly, that also summarizes how I have (so far) managed to make my living!

I work for  Adobe Systems India in Noida where I am an engineering project manager. I spend my time creating new opportunities for Adobe.  This involves looking out for new product opportunities, developing them into product proposals and working with senior management in the US to finetune them and get them going. My role also extends to creating new business opportunities for Adobe by forging global alliances with leading Indian IT players for creating end-to-end solutions around Adobe's enterprise products and implementing them for global customers.

Before joining Adobe in May 2002, I worked with IBM India Research Lab. (IBM-IRL) in New Delhi, India for three interesting years. I worked on e-commerce and had fun designing the next generation electronic marketplaces (in more simple terms - futuristic architecture and technologies for IBM's Websphere Commerce Suite). In the process I also got to do some hands-on research on Internet auctions and other online market mechanisms as they relate to economics, operations research and computer science.

At IBM-IRL, I also acted as the Computer Science PIC coordinator for the lab. In this capacity, I worked to strengthen the research focus of the activities at IBM-IRL and helped in the creation of joint success stories with the IITs. I also set up a program for collaboration of IBM-IRL with IBM India to enable a direct channel between research and customer-facing teams and acted as the external contact point for the lab for the purpose.

Prior to joining IBM, I worked with ICICI Limited (now ICICI Bank) in Mumbai, India in financial risk management and derivatives pricing where I got the opportunity to play with stochastic models for option pricing and VaR (Value at Risk). I also established a risk-based performance evaluation methodology for the portfolio of the ICICI Treasury and implemented it as a real-time Intranet-based system.

I am an MBA gold medalist (1998) from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, India.

I did my Bachelors in Computer Science and Engineering (1996) from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India and my schooling from Saint Mark's School, Delhi, India.
