A Review of Push

" I was left back when I was twelve because I had a baby for my fahver. That was in 1983. I was out of school for a year. This gonna be my second baby. My daughter got Down Sinder. She's retarded. I had got left back in the second grade too, when I was seven, 'cause I couldn't read. I should be in the eleventh grade, getting ready to go into the twelf' grade so I can gone 'n graduate. But I'm not. I'm in the ninfe grade."

This is how Sapphire starts off her completely blasphemous novel Push. It is a very realistic story that will keep you wanting to know more. The nain character, Precious, faces mental, physical, and sexual abuse. both of her parents are responsible for these mistreatments. Sapphire stunningly connects deppressing moral issues ans terrible socail powerlessness. she created them as part of Precious' everyday life.

What then happens to precious as she comes to find out that whatis happenming to her is not normal do you you believe that her situation gers better or worse? Well, precious' story sadly continues to become worse. precious' voice and literacy does change int he story though. As your see from the above quotation, Precious' story telling is very direct and plain in the begiingin. The way she succeeds in her learning capabilitiy throught the storys helps the reader thinl positively about devotion and possibilites. So. I believe that this book is good for everyone. It devotes special attention to a life that we would think has no hope.
