Island Vir is just 25 km away from the ancient town of Zadar. Vir is one of 300 islands in archipelago of Zadar. On the island you will find a large number of sandy beaches. If you feel a bit adventurous you might try and find a bay all to yourself or visit a venetian castle from 16th century.  

Thanks to its location in the Adriatic Vir is ideal as a starting point for excursions to the 4 national parks: Paklenica, Archipelago of Kornati, The Krka waterfalls or lakes of Plitvica.

In the near vicinity is the old-croatian town of Nin, whose small churches and roman ruins are definitely worth seeing.
