Aron Dunlap Bio:

At the age of 8 Aron was very upset that he had to come in from playing every day to practice his violin, which his parents bought him under the agreement that he would practice at least 30 min. every day. At the age of 18 he picked up a guitar, learned to play Scarborough Fair out of a book, and was quite thankful that his mother had forced some coordination on his fingers while they were yet so tender. He then played music in Seattle for five years, learning to sing with an electro/rock group named Sidney. Upon moving to Philadelphia in 2000, he has fiddled with the bluegrass/country sounds of She-Haw (2002-2003) and laid down the keyboard lines and back up vocals for Kandy Whales (2002-present). Though he no longer considers Scarborough Fair to be part of his solo repertoire, he has been writing songs for the past 10 years under the inspiration of folk, spirituals, and blues. His favorite singers are Robert Johnson and Woody Guthrie, and people say he sounds like Iron and Wine, Mason Jennings or Jackson Browne. His biggest role model right now is Shania Twain because she’s cute, doesn’t pull any punches, and chose her own first name because it means “I’m on my way.”
