Lifestyle

I attended university for many years, studying mainly languages, intending to be a translator of some sort.
I also took art and computer science and graphics classes. However, writing has always been dear to my heart, and so I knew that eventually I would be a writer, but I thought that it would be best to establish myself in other areas as well just in case I wasn't successful. For a while, after finishing university, a was a stewardess for Air Canada, and then I was a translator for the government and for a couple international companies. I have been playing the violin (rather, the fiddle) since I was very young, and so sometimes I still play at the weddings of my relatives and friends, and occasionally at other events. Now, I currently have a career as a full-time writer, continuing what has been my biggest accomplishment - a fantasy series of young adult novels that are popular in North America and many other countries. I love writing about anything and everything, from poetry to short stories to novels. I have translated my own novels into a couple other languages myself, being fluent in French, Spanish, Italian, German, Ukranian, Greek, Japanese and Chinese as well as Latin.

Go to Say Hello to the World to learn the basics of many languages.

My career has opened up many opportunities for me to do other small things I have always dreamed of. These include voicing small roles in an anime series, and making cameos in a few movies, musicals in particular, which I love.

In the spare time that I have, I enjoy taking yoga classes, art classes, and sometimes even a dance class. I also enjoy volunteering and doing charity work, mainly for the Society of Autism. Autism effects two people who are very close to me, my two younger brothers, Steven and Lucas.

As a writer I am lucky to have a fairly laid back lifestyle. I love being able to work at home, where I can get things done, but still be able to look after my two young twin daughters, Anna and Sicora. Living on an acreage also gives me the space for lots of animals, since I am an animal lover. In the house we have a specially designed room devoted to animals, including various birds, mice, lots of fish, turtles, lizards, frogs, hamsters, and three chinchillas named Chips, Pal, and Sqee. Outside we have our four cats, who hang around the house and go wherever they want, a white one, named Lovely, a striped grey one with white paws and a white mouth named Pavlova, a calico one named Arco Iris, and an orange one named Timmy. Outside we also have rabbits, horses, a lamb named Bunty, a goat named Gracia, a pond with fish and ducks, and a rather annoying rooster.

Visit Animal Pictures Archive for pictures of all animals imaginable.

Or go to Animal Mania for pet supplies.

A day in the life of me

7:00am: Get up, throw open all the curtains in the house, and make breakfast. I like to get up really early. At this time I go out and tend to all the animals.

7:30am: My husband gets up and goes to work. Our two girls, Anna and Sicora, are usually up by now.

9:00am: Around this time I retreat to my office and start working on whatever writing project I am doing at that time. My girls stay in the room with me. Some days I get no work done at all because it is so hard to concentrate or I just hardly get the chance to sit down. Some days, it works out just fine. That is the lifestyle of a writer. Even J.K. Rowling does it that way!

12:00pm: Make lunch or go out for lunch with my daughters, take a break to play with them outside, or do a little reading with them.

2:00pm: Tend the animals, and then get back to work.

6:00pm: My husband gets home from work. I take the evening off. During this time, we might go out for dinner or stay home for dinner, and afterwards go out for a while or just have a quiet evening at home. We enjoy watching old movies or sitting outside under the stars, talking. If I have any classes, they are around this time.

8:00pm: Sicora and Anna go to bed.

9:00pm: My husband and I do likewise, except on weekends.

On the weekends we like to go camping, attend conventions, or just relax at home. I often have art classes during the day.

I have a busy during lifestyle during work season. I am always on the go and I put my heart into my work and my family, but I also know the value and necessity of rest, so I take long and very relaxed holidays. Every second summer, we travel to a far off place, ranging from Europe to Japan, since my husband and I both absolutely love traveling. We also have a vacation home in Hawaii, which we go to during the winter, and lay on the beach.
