The journey continues.........You get Chickie and the pups home. You now have 2 girls and 2 boys, all of which need to be hand raised. It is difficult to keep Chickie away from the pups, but you know you have no choice. You let her clean them and help toilet them before each feed, but she is not allowed to lie down with them in case they feed from her. You don't want your pups drinking the pus and blood that is coming out of her teats now. So you have to make up the whelping box so that it is warm enough for the pups to survive. For the next 5 days, your routine is basically the same - clean the whelping box, clean the puppies, feed the puppies. You do this at 2 hourly intervals. By the Saturday, you increase this to 3 hourly, and then by Tuesday, it's 4 hourly. You've rung up work and offered another lame excuse. They are not impressed. While you are still employed there, they stop paying your weekly wage. Over the ensuing weeks, you return to work, and pay someone to come in and feed your puppies at lunch time. The puppies grow and before long, you are looking for homes for the pups. You only have three pups to sell, as you had promised one to Kim, in return for the stud. And you definitely want to keep one for yourself. So really, there are only 2 to sell. How are you going to get sell these other two puppies?
