Beach litter in Malta
http://www.science.plymouth.ac.uk/departments/learn/malta/litter1.htm
Beaches are a vital resource for the tourism industry of Malta. A survey of four beaches showed very low densities of litter on three beaches, but a fairly high density on the fourth. The density of litter depends on both the pressure of tourists and the litter management policies in operation. Litter is composed predominantly of plastics, but there are significant amounts of metals and wood debris, and small amounts of offensive and potentially dangerous materials.
