Meet the Periodontists
Cameron Jones D.D.S., Dip. Perio.
Dr. Jones received his doctor of dental surgery degree from McGill
University in 1990. He completed a one year general practice residency
program at the University of British Columbia Hospital and the British
Columbia cancer agency. He then completed a postgraduate program
in the specialty of periodontics at the University of British Columbia.
Dr. Jones received his specialty diploma in 1993. He
has been in private practice limited to periodontics and implant
surgery here in Ottawa, Ontario since 1995. Dr. Jones speaks English
and French.
Gordon Schwartz D.D.S., Dip. Perio.,
PhD
Dr. Schwartz received his doctor of dental surgery degree from McGill
University in 1991. He practiced as a general dentist in Montreal
for two years prior to completing a post graduate program in the
speciality of periodontics at the University of Toronto. Dr.
Schwartz received his speciality diploma in Periodontics
in 1995. Concurrent to his dental studies, Dr. Schwartz also completed
a Ph.D in Neuroscience (facial pain) at the Université de
Montréal.
Prior to moving to Ottawa, Dr. Schwartz practiced periodontics
and implant surgery in Montreal for 5 years. In Montreal, Dr.
Schwartz also taught at McGill where he was the director
of the clinical periodontal program for undergraduate dentistry.
He is bilingual, speaking English and French.
Sacha Singh D.D.S.,
MSc. Perio., M.R.C.D. (C)
Dr. Sacha Singh graduated from general dentistry
in 1995 from the University of Toronto and then completed a one-year
general practice residency at Toronto’s Mount-Sinai Hospital.
He returned to the University of Toronto and completed his Masters
of Science in Periodontics in 1999. Dr. Singh has several
publications based on his research into the inhibition of bone loss
caused by cigarette by-products. Since graduation he has worked
as a periodontist in Whitehorse and North Carolina.
He has hospital privileges at the CHEO.
Vana Andreou D.D.S.,
MSc. Perio., F.R.C.C. (C)
Dr. Vana Andreou graduated from general dentistry
in 1997 from McGill University. She then completed a general practice
residency at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal before working
in private practice. She completed her Masters of Science in Periodontics
from the University of Toronto in 2002. Dr. Andreou
is a member of the Academy of Osseointegration College of Dental
Surgeons of Canada.
She received a Government of Ontario Scholarship in research and
technology and is internationally recognized for her periodontal
research on the effects of bacterial toxins and cigarette by-products
on bone formation, having received the Balint Orban Award.
Dr. Andreou is a part-time clinical instructor at the dental clinic
of the University of Toronto. She speaks English, French, Greek,
and Italian.
Drs. Jones, Schwartz, Singh and Andreou
