Hey yo all of you
wrestling fans out there, welcome to the first
edition of The Blockbuster. Before I get started I would like you
all to bow
your heads in silence in memory of Owen Hart. He was a great
in-ring
performer and a well respected person out of the ring. I have
seen Sting do
the exact same stunt that Owen was trying to do a million times.
To my
knowledge, it has never failed Sting, but bad luck cast itself on
Owen. I
hope this shows the federations that stunts like that really are
just too
dangerous. Wrestlers sacrificing themselves by jumping down from
the rafters
and diving head butts off the tops of steel cages just shouldn't
be allowed.
I have read that in the new WWF video game, WWF Attitude, Owen
Hart
will remain in the game, but the Blue Blazer character has been
removed. I
don't know about you, but I don't know why people wanted to take
him out in
the first place. I bet that Owen and the Blue Blazer would be two
of the most
frequently used characters in the game. I have also heard that
they are going
to dedicate the game to Owen. This would be a real sign of good
will by the
makers of the game.
Speaking of video games, the new WCW Mayhem looks pretty good.
You
will be able to fight not only backstage, but in garages and
dressing rooms
as well. My personal favorite game is WCW\nWo Revenge, but Mayhem
looks like
it might top it. I have heard that they might have as many as 120
wrestlers!!!!!! That would be amazing. I am looking forward to
it's release.
Expect Raven and Saturn to drop the belts at GAB. Saturn is
taking
time off for an injury. Raven should be getting back into singles
competition, hopefully the hardcore division. I don't know about
you, but I
could have thought of 100 better teams to win the belts than DDP
and Bigelow.
The Steiners should get into the title picture sometime soon as
well. I have
also heard that Haarlem Heat is set to reform as well. WCW is
really making a
good effort to bring back the tag team division.
Yes, its that time of the year again, the King of the Ring
tournament. It's really anybody's game, but if I had to bet on
anyone, it
would probably be the Rock or B.A. Billy Gunn. I know, I know,
Gunn isn't
exactly K.O.R. material, but he has just been given a decent
singles push. He
broke away from his major stable and his tag team just a month or
so before
the tournament. The reasons for choosing the Great One are
obvious. He faced
Shamrock in the finals last year, but lost. He is also rapidly
gaining
approval from the fans. He is getting pops as big as Austin.
DX seems to be dead. Just a good friendship between X-Pac and the
Road Dogg is all that remains. I see a new DX forming within the
next few
months, with HBK as the leader. It might be an interesting twist
in the Corp.
Ministry\Union angle. I am looking forward to a new and improved
DX. They
could be a real force in the WWF.
While I'm on the topic of stables, WCW is going to make some new
stables. The Wolfpac is dead. They haven't come out as a group in
months.
They only have 2 or 3 active wrestlers that are not injured. The
nWo black
and white should be jobbing the first 20 minutes of Saturday
Night. In fact,
the only reason that they are holding together is an angle being
set up for
the reformation of haarlem heat. The four horsemen is down to a
old guy and
his manager. Look for a new Flock to appear under the guidance of
Raven. Also
look for a new stable to form that includes the Steiners, Luger,
and a few
others. By the way, Luger will betray Sting somewhere down the
line, as early
as this Monday, and join the Steiner Bros.
Well, that's all for this edition. Keep reading and remember,
know
your role!
