Everyone, these days, seems to be infatuated with the identity of the mysterios 'Higher Power'. And it now looks like I'm one of them. So who do I think is the Higher Power (THP)? After hours of racking my brains, here are the deductions I have come up with-
--> THP is male-
On the WWF's website you will notice that every writer refers to
THP as 'he'. You may argue that WWF may be trying to mislead us,
but that is highly unlikely.
-->THP is not a McMahon- The first deduction rules our
Stephanie and Linda. It can't be Shane because he's already a
part of the Ministry and his role in this angle is clear. Vince
turning heel would be illogical. Vince Sr. is dead.
-->THP is someone from Austin's past- Judging by the
expression on Austin's face, i can establish that he is indeed
someone from his past.
Frankly, I don't see any of the current players of the wrestling industry fitting our description of the suspect as THP. My theory is that it will be someone new. Like Kane. Everyone waited with bated breath to see who or what Kane was. When he appeared in '97, nobody knew him but we were VERY impressed. THP may be someone we know in a new gimmick. He can be Jerry Brisco in a mask or even the Ultimate Warrior with his face paint off. I think someone knew would be much better. But the bottomline is that this is one of the most highly anticipated and well-done angles of all time, sure to be remembered for a long time by the fans. The WWF is going to make a killing from this.
And now, time for some random thoughts-
I had a dream (or was it a nightmare) in which Hawk had died. I don't know why. But I dreamt it. I hope it's not an omen or something equally sinister!
Old Baldy is upset that Nash is monopolizing the WCW title? Now, where have I heard this before?
Where is Alex Wright? The last time I saw him on Nitro, he looked like a German count from the last century. If anyone has any idea, please send me an e-mail.
I think it's time Hall, Hogan, Flair, DDP and Luger were released. Althought I don't particularly like Nash and Savage, I have to admit that they still have an enormous fan following and are to over to kick out now. The same can hardly be said about Lex Loser.
WCW wants to push ten wrestlers. I think they should push out the people on their current list and push the these budding talents- Buff Bagwell, Scot Steiner, Eddy Guerrero, Raven, Glacier (I really like him), Reese (the next Giant), Hak, Bigelow, Bryan Adams (remember the heel Crush from '93?) and of course Goldberg.
I'm conducting a little survey and I want to know who your favourite wrestler and is and who you think is the biggest draw in wrestling today (look at this from a detached point of view).
It seems my creative juices have stopped flowing and I'd better wind up. If you have any questions or comments or want to vote in my survey, send an e-mail to v@hempseed.com.
Correction:- In the last edition of this column, I had wrongly stated that David VonErich had commited suicide. He had actually died of Toxic Shock Syndrome. A big thank you to Scotty Collins for pointing it out.
