First of all I'd like to thank my readers for their overwhelming response to my survey. Keep the votes coming, results will be out in six days. If you still don't know about it, I've asked you to tell me who your favourite wrestler is and who you think is the biggest draw (from a detached POV) in both the WWF and WCW. Right now, the Rock, Austin and Mick Foley are the leaders by a huge margin. As for WCW, it's a very even field with Sting, Flair and Goldberg the leading contenders. Someone even voted for Hugh Morrus. In WCW, Sting and Goldberg are the overwhelming favourites for leading draw.
This time I'd like to address a very controversial issue- Who is the greatest wrestler of all time? IMHO no single man can be called that. The greatest wrestler, as in the wrestler with the greatest wrestling skills, will be very hard to choose. Since I have been following wrestling only since the 80's, I'm in no position to comment on this. However, the wrestler to have the greatest impact on the industry is easy to pick. It is none other than Old Baldy, Hulk Hogan. Although I have never liked Hogan (even during the 80's), I have to admit Hogan was responsible for single-handedly transforming the sport into an industry. Few men have enjoyed such phenomenol popularity and such success over such a long period of time. Sure Austin is popular now and has helped increase the WWF's fan base, but I don't see the same dominant Texas Rattlesnake 18 months from now. Hogan, in his heydeys, was second to none. The Macho Man was always second. Hogan is still the most recognized figure from the wrestling industry today.
Before I start with random thoughts, I have to tell you who my votes for my own survey are. My favourite wrestlers are The Rock in the WWF and Bret Hart in WCW and I think Steve Austin and Sting are the biggest draws in their feds. Now on to random thoughts-
Sable is gone! Yessssss! As I told you a few weeks before, I was getting sick and tired of her. The WWF made her what she is and she had no right snub it. Now she had the odacity to slap a $100 million lawsuit on the WWF! I think she's going to suffer the same fate as her in-ring charecter- she's going to be stripped in full public view.
My pick for winning KOTR (NOT KOR) is Paul Wight. It would be stupid to job such a phenomenal athlete. There's no chance of him getting the Gold, so why not give him the KOTR title.
I seriously think the winnner of KOTR should get something like the 'Hart memorial trophy'.
Incredible but true:- Ric Flair played football as an Offensive Guard for the University of Minnesota.
