An interface between an operating system and application programs that includes the calling convention used for their communication and the services that the operating system makes available to the program. An API provides a set of routines, protocol, and tools for building software applications, and specifies the standard software interrupts, calls, functions and data formats that an application must use to contact with hardware or network services.
  3. APPLET-A small application such as a utility or a small program that does not run on its own but it is embedded and run from within other application. Applet often cannot access certain resources on local computer such as files and serial devices and cannot communicate with most other computers across a network. A small distributed application created with the sun Microsystems java programming language. Java applets are often embedded in HTML pages and can be downloaded and used by any computer equipped with java capable browser.
  4. ATM-Asynchronous transfer mode. 7. BROADBAND-High speed transmission usually referring to speeds of 1.5mbps or above.
  8. BLUETOOTH-A short range wireless connection standard. It aims to link a wide range of computers, electronics and telecom devices. The technology uses a low power two way radio link which is built into a microchip.                                                                                              #####
