Irish Dancing Classes

Stephannie Scott, instrcutor

Irish dance classes are taught at A-Z Dance Studio in Las Vegas, Nevada. The current schedule (as of March 2002) is as follows:

Beginning (all ages) Thursday 5:30pm
Intermediate (all ages) Tuesday 4:30pm
Friday 4:30pm
Advanced (all ages) Saturday 2:00pm

Classes are $15/class or $35/month for one class per week, $65/month for two classes per week. Private lessons are available; please inquire!

Please Note: Student placement and advancement shall be the sole decision of the instructor.

Students may wear any dance-able clothing they choose, so long as the instructor can see your body's movements. Dangling jewelry is not advised, and long hair should be pulled away from the face.

All classes work in both ghillies (aka softshoes/pumps) and hardshoes (aka jig shoes). Beginning students may wear black ballet or jazz shoes and tap shoes if they wish. Unfortunately, there are no shops in town that sell irish dancing shoes - we reccomend ordering online from Ballinvilla Products, at www.irishshoes.com. Check with Stephannie for tips and reccomendations before you order your shoes.

All students have opportunities to perform throughout the year, both with A-Z Dance Studio and the Visions of Erin Troupe.

We do not make you buy expensive class or solo dresses! (That's right, you don't have to shell out $500-$1200 for a costume, whoo-hoo!) Students wishing to purchase a solo dress may do so online or through Stephannie, or purchase a pattern from Michael's and make their own. Each year, we participate in A-Z Dance Studio's school recital. Costumes are different each year for each class, and must be purchased through the studio if you plan on participating. Other performances will be costumed accordingly, sometimes using recital costumes, "Riverdance" style leotard, tights, and skirt, Visions of Erin costumes, or solo dresses - in such an occassional you will recieve details from Stephannie prior to the performance.
