More insights on Jayananda’s Vedic astrological chart:

Here are some more insights on Jayananda's astrology chart. This astrology page gets many more hits than all of the others. This might be because there are many Vedic astrologers who search on Google and Yahoo for key words and they often find this page. Devotees also find this page interesting.

Here is more information from the Vedic astrological treatise: Bhrigu Samhita Paddhati, by Bhagwan Dasa Mital. I'm not sure how old this book is. The sages of antiquity hve discerned the personality traits of Jayananda from these readings of every planet in a particular sign, of a particular rising sign.

Bhagwan Dasa Mital says about Jupiter in Pisces, for Cancer rising chart-

"Jupiter in Pisces, in the 9th house from Cancer rising- “Is very fortunate and gets great respect; gets influence in physique; works with great intelligence; gets a symmetrical stature; gets the power of children; gets the power of education, discernment and speech; rears up good dharma with some escaping attitude; gets victory over the enemies through the power of destiny but faces some hindrances in the house of destiny; does not like difference; possesses fortunate maternal grandfather’s family and is very clever to rear up the selfishness in the house of dharma and gentility.”

Jupiter is guru planet, 9th house is dharma house, and Jupiter in Pisces is strong, being Jupiter’s own sign. This reading is saying that Jayananda’s chart, specifically Jupiter in Pisces, in the 9th house from Cancer rising, predicts certain attributes, certain destinies-

a. [Jayananda] Is very fortunate and gets great respect-

“After Jayananda's passing away, Srila Prabhupada confirmed that he went back to Godhead. He was considered ISKCON's first saint -- an average American who perfected his life.”  RDV

“The fame of saints like Jayananda Thakur increases like a swelling crescent moon, increasing more and more after their disappearance from the mortal world. The fame of saints only increase as days go on, yielding compounded daily spiritual interest, expanding exponentially like the waxing moon.”  JT

Only the pure devotee of God achieves lasting fame. Lord Chaitanya said a man is famous when he is known as a great devotee. This is real fame, as Srila Prabhupada says in his purport to Bhagavad-Gita 10.4-5:

"Yashah, fame, should be according to Lord Chaitanya, who said that a man is famous when he is known as a great devotee. That is real fame. If one has become a great man in Krishna Consciousness and it is known, then he is truly famous. One who does not have such fame is infamous."  JT

b. Gets influence in physique-

Srila Prabhupada - (chuckles) Jayananda looks like Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. (laughter) Yes. He was tall and stout and strong, Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

c. Gets a symmetrical stature;

Jayananda’s face had a symmetrical charm and warmth, and he always looked you straight in the eye, and he made you feel at home, secure and reassured in whatever we were talking about.

“Jayananda was the all-American boy. Handsome, strong, intelligent, born in a more than middle-class family.”  RDV - Heartfelt gratitude

d. gets the power of children-

We felt like kids and Jayananda was like a father to us, [like our mother too].

“Accepting Jayananda like a father, Beaverchief agrees to come to the temple.” RDV

“Jayananda was too busy being our father and mother and doing all the needful things. He deserved our worship, but would have none of it.”  - “He was sort of like our mother, always doing the things we were too lazy to do.” JT

e. gets the power of education, discernment and speech

“Jayananda (Jim Kohr) took a degree in mechanical engineering from Ohio State University. With a background like that, it is surprising that Jayananda ended up as a cab driver in San Francisco. Karandhara once asked him why he didn't get a better-paying job. "I didn't fit in with the upper-class crowd," he said. – from Remembering Jayananda by Kalakantha Dasa.”  JT

f.  rears up good dharma with some escaping attitude-

Here I interpret “escaping attitude” as escaping from material life, humble, renounced, not caring for any position, only wanting to serve.

“As I remember him, Jayananda, too, had a personality that evoked seemingly contradictory feelings. On the one hand, he was as humble as a person could be. Especially among younger devotees, he was as gentle as a kitten. He was the kind of guy you would find working under a truck or taking out the garbage, even though he was given a position in a major ISKCON temple as temple president.”  RDV: Foreword

“Sometimes you would find Jayananda underneath a car changing the oil, and so forth. Is this not a strange position for one so advanced? That is the whole point – position. Jayananda was not desirous of any particular position or post. Any position was fine for him, if it served Krishna. Servant means no position, only service. He did not care anything for pratistha or distinction. He desired only to be the servitor of Krishna, and thought all others were Krishna's eternal servitors. This was his vision. This is ekatvam, or oneness of vision.”  JT

“And when Jayananda Prabhu sought permission to give up his post as temple president and become the driver of our sankirtana van, Prabhupada consented, stating that any position on the sankirtana party should always be given priority over all other engagements.”  SOS 2: Becoming Prabhupada's Man

“When he understood that Prabhupada's strong desire was to expand the sankirtana movement, without hesitation be gave up his position as temple president to become the sankirtana party driver. It was also with Jayananda's help that Prabhupada was able to publish the Teachings of Lord Caitanya: Jayananda financed the printing with his life savings, which he gave as his guru-daksina. After the book was printed, Srila Prabhupada gave half of the copies to Jayananda, with the instruction that he personally sell them. This was actually the most important work, and he gave it to his most sincere disciple. Up to that time, no one besides Srila Prabhupada had seriously attempted to sell big books.”  SOS 5: Preaching in Separation

On the disappearance day of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur, as Prabhupada is about to begin the program in his newly refurbished La Cienega temple, he notices that Jayananda is absent. All of a sudden, Jayananda comes in and offers his obeisances. "Hare Krsna. Come on. I was thinking, ‘Where is Jayananda?' Now immediately he has come." Everyone turns to see Jayananda, in his usual humble manner, bringing an enormous tiered cake intended for Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur. The devotees gasp in wonder, and Srila Prabhupada looks very pleased. He instructs Jayananda to offer it directly to his Guru Maharaja, adding, "Take care it may not fall down. All right."

This is a special rapport with the spiritual master. Jayananda has imbibed the concept of devotional service so perfectly, and as a result, the devotees observe that Srila Prabhupada is always thinking of him. Everyone is happy, because they know that Jayananda deserves this extra mercy. RDV

g. gets victory over the enemies through the power of destiny

Jayananda’s name suggests victory, blissful victory. Jayananda’s life was blissful victory over all enemies of Bhakti, such as greed, selfishness, and so on.

“Transcendental power is always superior to the power of the materialist. Depending on the mercy of the Supreme Lord, one must fight one's enemies even though one may not be equipped with modern weapons. Therefore Krsna instructed Arjuna, mam anusmara yudhya ca: [Bg. 8.7] "Think of Me and fight." We should fight our enemy to the best of our ability, but for victory we must depend on the mercy of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.” > SB 9.10.20P

“wherever there is Jayananda and his ragtag band of merry street urchins (and discount parts and lumber laying about), there will certainly be opulence, victory, and extraordinary power.”  JT

“May the spirit of your name, Jayananda – the victory of spiritual bliss – come back to conquer the great arrogance of this world.”  JT

h. but faces some hindrances in the house of destiny

Nalini-kanta Dasa says, “Saturn or Mercury, which are debilitated … in the sense of breaking longevity and causing some disturbing relationship-karma.” Mercury was also in the 9th house.

i. does not like difference; possesses fortunate maternal grandfather’s family and is very clever to rear up the selfishness in the house of dharma and gentility.”

Jayananda does not like difference, in other words, he did not like anything different from Krishna Consciousness and devotion to Srila Prabhupada. He did not like duplicity, but was always straightforward.

In this connection Svami Sridhara comments that satyena means niskapatena, "without duplicity." The impersonalists are full of duplicity. Sometimes they pretend to execute devotional service, but their ultimate idea is to become one with the Supreme. This is duplicity, kapata. The Bhagavatam does not allow this duplicity. In the beginning of Srimad-Bhagavatam it is clearly stated, paramo nirmatsaranam: [SB 1.1.2] "This treatise Srimad-Bhagavatam is meant for those who are completely free from envy." The same point is again stressed here. Unless one is completely faithful to the Supreme Personality of Godhead and engages himself in the process of hearing and chanting the glories of the Lord, there is no possibility for liberation.  >>> Ref.
