LAVENDER
Once there was no world, just a col-or-less void
So mon-o-chro-mat-ic the Lord grew an-noyed,
So He took out His paint chips and swatch-es and planned,
then col-ored it in with a con-sum-mate hand.

Red for the sun-set, blue for the o-cean.
Yel-low to grow things green.
Then God made Lav-en-der for things in-be-tween.

Warm in the morn-ing, cool in the eve-ning.
Sub-tle but some-how bold.
When God made Lav-en-der,
I swear He broke the mould.

To some it is-n’t “pri -mar -y.”  To me it seems pro -found.
Peo -ple mis -use it; “Why did you ‘choose’ it.”
Why does the earth go round.

Pale in the day -break light -ing your pil-low,
Deep -en -ing all day through.
Why ev -er God made Lav -en -der,
It looks di-vine on you.

To some it is -n’t “pri -mar -y.”  To me it seems pro -found.
Peo -ple mis -use it; “Why did you ‘choose’ it.”
Why does the earth go round.

Fick -le and fool -ish,  mood -y at mo -ments.
Hard -ly a neu -tral hue.
God must have made me Lav -en -der
So I would match with you.

An A -pril rain;  [An Au-gust haze.] A win-ter sky; [An au-tumn blaze.] They tell us: No -where else in na -ture do you find us.

Wild  flowers               re  -            mind us    [<- chorus]
Wild    flowers   re  -  mind           us    [<- bass]

Who -----
Who but the lord de-signed us [de-signed us?]
Red for the sun-set, blue for the o-cean.
Yel-low to grow things green.
Then God made Lav-en-der  for things in-be-tween,    in -be -tween

Warm in the morn-ing, cool in the eve-ning.
Sub-tle but some-how bold.
When God made Lav-en-der,
I swear He broke the mould.

To some it is-n’t “pri -mar -y.”  To me it seems pro -found.
Peo -ple mis -use it; “Why did you ‘choose’ it.”
Why ----
      Why ----
             Why ----
Why does the earth go round.  go round?

Fick -le and fool -ish,  mood -y at mo -ments.
Good for a laugh or two.
Thank God he made me Lav -en -der
I get I get so bored so bored with blue - - - with blue.
I get so bored with  blue blue blue, - - - blue
