Relationships
So, who are Frodo's friends? And who are *more* than just Frodo's friends? (BAH-hah!) The romantic things are purely my opinions, and have no basis on fact. While the friendshippy stuff is drawn from my conclusions about LOTR. So...
BEWARE THE IDES OF MARCH! *falls*
-- Bilbo Baggins --
Frodo's first AND second cousin (I think Drogo and Primmi were distant relatives before they got married...*shudder*), as well as 'Uncle'. Although, Bilbo's role in Frodo's life has become somewhat as a father figure, and teacher. The two are very close, and are basically each other's family. You can see that they care about one another quite alot. Also - Frodo is Bilbo's heir to Bag End, etc. as well as the Ring. *cue scary music*
-- Samwise Gamgee --
*cough*ILOVESAM&FRODOSLASH*cough* Sam is probably the second closest person to Frodo (the first being Bilbo ^_^). Sam is Frodo's gardener, as well as companion while the two traveled through Mordor. Sam was very loyal to his 'Master'/'Mister Frodo', as he called him, and would often kiss Frodo's hand and brow and call him 'my dear'. Yes, yes. Tolkien created a brotherly love between the two, but my own twisted fan-girl mind has created a beautiful romance. Personally, I'm a fan of Frodo x Sam, and I know the purists will all kill me. So. *once again, sleeps with one eye open*
-- Peregrin Took --
Pippin and Frodo are cousins, and the two seem to get along alright. They're good friends, and personally, I think there's room for romance. *gets beaten over head* But as mentioned, they ARE cousins. *koff* Anyway, Pippin is kind of a jokester and Frodo is an introvert, so that's why they are friends. Opposites, ya know!
-- Meriadoc Brandybuck --
Merry and Frodo are ALSO cousins (but you don't see THAT hindering what I consider could be another promising romance! :P). Of course, they are just friends, but the neat thing is that they grew up together in Brandy Hall. So...yeah! Kool (-aid)!
-- Gollum/Sméagol --
My preciousssss... Gollum hates Frodo, yet worships him at the same time. At least, during the whole 'going into/through Mordor' parts. Gollum 'worships' Frodo because Frodo has the Ring, and Gollum is obsessed with said Ring. So. But later on, since Frodo is merciful and pitying, Gollum becomes very loyal and trusts Frodo muchly (heehee!). And, upon arrival at Orodruin, Gollum goes nutso and totally bites Frodo's finger off to get at the Ring! [Thus we see why this site was given its name. Nine Fingers! *cheers*]
-- Gandalf --
Gandy is a mentor to Frodo, and cares about him alot. So they have a nice, strong friendship in which Gandalf aids Frodo and guides him through the Quest.
-- Aragorn --
Well, Aragorn swears to protect Frodo, so the two got along alright and were friends. But nothing more.
-- Boromir --
Mwahahaa, evil Boromir wanted the Ring so much, that he tried to attack Frodo and take it from him! >:( [Note: In the movie, it looked like Boromir was trying to *rape* Frodo. Eeep! Cruel intentions, indeed! :P] Anyway, Boromir died a bit later [killed by nasssty Orcses, my preciousss], while trying to defend Merry and Pip. Anyway, Boromir and Frodo weren't exactly *friends*, especially seeing as Frodo *did not trust* Boromir, and Boro' went a bit loopy, saying the Frodo was too weak and stupid to bear the Ring. Uh oh! :-O
-- Legolas Greenleaf --
With Leggo, it was his duty to protect Frodo. So I guess they were friends.
-- Gimli --
The above also goes for Gimli.
-- Galadriel --
Frodo seemed to be in awe of Galadriel, and they became friends, in a way. It was evident she cared alot about him [not in a romantic way!], and hoped for his safety. She gave him, in fact, the Phial of Galadriel that contained the light of the star Earendil.
-- Arwen Evenstar --
In the movie [where they got rid of Glorfindel! NOOOOOOOO~~~!!! *dies*], Arwen saved Frodo's life at the Ford ('Xenarwen, warrior Princess!' XP). Anyway, Frodo was thankful to Arwen and all that, and they are friends. Yay. (can you tell that I'm not a big fan of Arwen? nope nope!)
-- Sauron --
I once read a Frodo/Sauron fic. It was way freaksy, but that's the reason I made this category. Okay, Frodo HATES Sauron. And Sauron HATES Frodo. I see absolutely no room for friendship in this, let alone romance! XT
